Conflicts are Good.......They are Very Very Good. This is because it is an opportunity to build beautiful meaningful relationship. Friction brings best out of you towards Craftsmanship. If No Friction means no one is telling the truth.
Few days back Mr. Vivek Gambhir wrote about Friction at workplace. Every person has unpolished diamond and Friction within Team is an opportunity to convert Unpolished Diamond to Polished Diamond.
In this Video, Steve Jobs explained How he used Friction within Team to get Craftsmanship during a process of bringing product into reality from an idea. I could resonate with it because as a Chief Product Manager for maximum part of my career, I underwent handling many frictions while dealing with Cross-Functional Team during the process of implementation of product at Commercial Scale. It has helped me in bringing newer abilities on surface which then became superior capabilities paving a path for me to become better version of myself each day towards Personal Leadership Mastery.
If you are facing challenges or friction at work place, it is to bring polished diamond within you from unpolished diamond.
It is worth spending Few Minutes to listen to Steve Jobs to understand importance of Friction at Work Place.

Must see!! Friction necessary to shine!
Beautiful metaphor!
You need friction to manage the process the complexity of take into account 1000’s of aspects, to polish a rough idea into a final outcome, a successful product.

Thinking that a great idea is 90% of the work is a disease. Executing and polishing the idea is 90% of the work. When I speak to companies about culture, they all tell me they have a great one without executing and polishing it. Don't suffer from this disease as culture is too important not to make great. #ideas#execution#greatculture

I like the idea of how Steve Jobs explained the value of ideas versus execution. Jobs emphasized that while ideas are important, they constitute only a small fraction of the journey to success. He often said that ideas are only 10% of the process; the remaining 90% is all about execution.
Good idea can spark innovation and provide a direction, its true value is unlocked only through the hard work and strategic execution that brings it to life. This underscores the importance of not just having ideas but being able to implement them effectively.

Insightful comments from Steve Jobs. Two comments particularly are insightful - 1. how to move from a great idea to a great product and 2. a metaphore about rocks and a team.

There are many leaders of the IT industry whom simply due to thier success are quoted often. But I personally always respected Steve jobs and bill gates due to thier sincere insight into the human psyche. I really liked this excerpt!
It touches two points which I have often thought about myself.
1. An idea is a benchmark only if it is implementable.
2. Organizations shouldn't hesitate to conduct periodic incubations and workshops due to possible friction between engineers or cross functional teams.

In this video, Steve Jobs explains the transformative power of novel ideas. He highlights a crucial insight: the misconception that merely having a great idea is 90% of the work. At Apple, they learned that simply articulating an idea to colleagues is not enough. It’s the "tremendous amount of craftsmanship" and effort that goes into refining and developing that idea which turns it into a great product.
Jobs likens the process to a rusty old stone polisher, where rough stones with sharp edges and irregular corners are tumbled together until they become shiny and polished. Similarly, when extremely talented people come together, they take a raw, novel idea and work on it meticulously. Through collaboration and diving into the "subtleties", this idea eventually transforms into something truly remarkable.
This journey emphasises that the true value of a novel idea is realised only when the entire process is allowed to play out seamlessly. It's a reminder that innovation thrives when we let our ideas be shaped and refined through teamwork and dedication.
