Today I have had in excess of 200 messages from Job Searchers asking for help and 99% of the problems are the same. People are struggling to get seen by a Real person, which is worrying and also frustrating. Stories of 500 applications and zero responses are coming thick and fast. Firstly, companies need to do better and need to at least automate responses, as there is no excuse not to let people know they aren't progressing. But, more importantly, people need to understand that the systems are blocking their access to real people and this is a major problem, which means the recruiters/hiring managers don't even know you have applied. The reality, is that Tech is now dictating processes all over the world and Job Searching is no different, but, it means we need to adapt and accept this is what is happening.
