I found๐ some tools and tactics to enhance the User Experience of your product after the launch! A great user experience is not a one-time process of creating user-friendly websites and products, but it's an ongoing process that lasts forever.. Here are a few tips and tools I found that will eventually help you scale the overall experience of your product. 1๏ธโฃUser Onboarding: Assume your product is live and the user has signed up to avail your services but what next? It's your responsibility to guide the users about the working of the product. You can do so by using the different onboarding tools like UserGuiding and Appcues. This tool will create a whole journey for the users. 2๏ธโฃ Immediate Support: Solving the queries of users as soon as possible is the most important aspect of great user experience. Providing email support is the good one but not the best one, because it takes so much time to solve the query and some users aren't able to explain their query in the mail. Here comes the role of phone and live chat support. The best tools you can use for the live chat support can be Intercom and Zoho SalesIQ 3๏ธโฃEducate users: More easily the user will use your product, the higher chances are they will stick to your product for the long-term. So you need to educate your audience about your product. You can do so by integrating knowledge base to your website, creating videos and articles. The best knowledge base I found on the internet is the Hostinger knowledge base. It is well categorized covering the answers of almost all the frequently asked questions of the users. 4๏ธโฃ Community Building: Foster a community around your product. Provide forums or social platforms for users to connect, share experiences, and offer insights. This builds a sense of belonging and loyalty. You can use tools like Mighty Networks, facebook, and Discord to build an online community for your product. 5๏ธโฃ A/B Testing: Experiment with variations in design or features through A/B testing. This data-driven approach helps identify what resonates best with users. You can use tools like Optimizely and Google optimize for A/B testing. 6๏ธโฃ Feedback and Surveys: Create a mechanism for users to provide feedback easily. Regularly analyze this feedback to identify pain points and areas for improvement. Conduct periodic surveys to gather insights directly from users. Understanding User Intent is ESSENTIAL for Conversion Rate Optimizationโฆ (hereโs how you can do it) Intent reveals why users come to your site. And what they are trying to get done. Get it right and you can guide them through a seamless experience. Get it wrong and well, theyโll bounce out as quick as they came in. So how do you determine user intent? Any or all the following ways will help: ๐ธ Analytics - Look at metrics like pages viewed, time on site, exit rates, etc. to understand user flows and pinpoint friction. ๐ธ Surveys - Ask users directly about their goals, likes, dislikes after key steps. ๐ธ Exit popups - Capture voice of customer feedback on why users are leaving. ๐ธ Heatmaps - See where users click and scroll to map engagement signals. ๐ธ Session recordings - Replay real user sessions to empathize with their experience. ๐ธ User panels - Assemble a group of target users for regular feedback and testing. ๐ธ Interviews - Have in-depth convos to deeply understand user mental models. ๐ธ Chat/Phone calls - Listen to sales convos to learn user questions and objections. ๐ธ Audits - Review copy, CTAs, forms, etc. from user perspective to find misalignment. ๐ธ User scenarios - Map flows for key scenarios to identify gaps and optimize experiences. ๐ธ Common sense - sometimes you donโt need any complicated methods at all. Just the brain inside your head! But to get a proper view and idea of user intent, donโt use just one method. Use multiple data sources to really get a handle on what the user wants from your website. The more evidence, the stronger the case. And better the optimization. Remember, determining intent isnโt a one-time job either. It is an ongoing process that needs to evolve. Every month I analyze what worked on WebEngage's website, what didnโt, etc. The hunt for effective frameworks led me to discover ResearchXL. ๐ก This framework from CXL highlighted the gaps in my current process. Hereโs a summary to help you streamline your conversion research: 1. Technical analysis ๐ฅ Analyze compatibility across browsers & devices ๐ Analyze conversion rates across categories Use Google Analytics to identify categories that are leading to suboptimal conversions. 2. Heuristic analysis ๐ Identify "areas of interest" ๐ก Check key pages for relevancy, motivation, or friction Identify pages/goals that are important to signal business impact. Ask questions like - What are the top pages that always bring conversions? Which blog moved up in views this month? 3. Web analytics ๐ฏ Ensure your key events are accurately configured ๐ฝ Identify if there are gaps/leaks You should have events set up for all the key user actions that you want to track. Use these events to create path or funnel exploration reports. These can provide valuable insight into user behavior. 4. Mouse tracking analysis ๐ฅ Heat maps, click maps & scroll maps ๐บ User session video replays I've found scroll maps to be critical in analyzing #UserBehavior. A drop off of 2-3% in consecutive folds is normal. But what if you see a 30% drop off from 10%-15% of the page scroll? The section may have had a static image/unappealing content. 5. Qualitative research ๐ Customer surveys ๐ Web traffic surveys ๐ค Chat logs What to do when you have no clue why your users are dropping off without converting? Consider running a voluntary survey asking pointed questions. Run this for over a month (the timeline depends on traffic). Make changes to the website according to the insights. 6. User testing ๐ซ Run a usability audit on your website. Identify points of friction & find gaps in clarity/actionable, etc. 7. Copy testing ๐ค Conduct interviews We can get caught up in our bias while crafting the messaging on our websites. Talk to relevant stakeholders & your audience. Understand if your copy makes them feel empowered, curious, etc. Find insights from these steps, create hypotheses, implement, analyze, and iterate. Any other insights on conversion research? Let me explainโฆ In certain places, like forms, adding a little friction to the customer experience can: ๐Increase conversions ๐Improve the quality of those conversions ๐Provide better data on who's converting Here's how it works: Remember the standard lead form that hasn't much evolved since the web was invented. So most marketers do the bare minimum: ask for an email and name, etc. But in lots and lots of testing we've done, if you take a longer, more conversational approach, you can boost engagement and conversions. Just keep asking questions until you have the customer primed. But do it in a fun, relaxed way that feels like talking to a friend. It feels more relevant and personal.
