Tracking, Benchmarking and Recertification are all part of the sustainablity loop. What methods of tracking and certification are you and your teams working on?

The international alliance between the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the UK-based Building Research Establishment and the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) is welcoming four new partners as it aims to unlock the sustainable finance needed for the built environment to meet its climate goals. These include the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC), GRESB, the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), and the Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor (CRREM). The first in a series of milestones for the partnership, the alliance will publish next month a practical guide: Financing Transformation: A Guide to Green Building for Green Bonds and Green Loans. The guide will show how verification and certification schemes ensure compliance with multiple sustainable classification frameworks used globally, such as the EU and UK green taxonomies, and how they can be used to put the built environment on a 1.5C trajectory. https://lnkd.in/ebeqbmBG

Pleased to share that the City of Gary, Indiana, within our region, is one of 12 cities across the US selected to participate in 2024 Cohort of U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for Cities Local Government Leadership Program. The program helps local governments set goals, collect data and validate performance against #sustainability and quality of life metrics using the #LEED for Cities rating system, revolutionizing the way cities and communities are planned, developed and operated. Bridging Industry and Community: A Strategic Win-Win Today's dynamic business landscape is not just about profit margins and shareholder value. Engagement with our local communities is an often overlooked but decisive strategic move. I am proud to facilitate these discussions with #LifeInTheHeartland. The conversations are engaging and informative for both the community members and the company representatives who attend. Some takeaways after our third meeting this past week: ➡Right to Know Communities have a right to be informed about operations and activities behind the fencelines of industrial operations. This openness can foster collaboration and mitigate potential concerns. ➡Local Credibility Building trust with locals leads to an enriched brand reputation for companies. ➡Shared Success A thriving community boosts support through loyalty, partnerships, and innovation. ➡Sustainable Growth Economic prosperity is amplified when businesses and communities align their goals. Community involvement promotes long-term planning and sustainable strategies. ➡Assumptions Companies must approach community engagement with an open mind and avoid making assumptions, as understanding and active listening are the cornerstones of true collaboration. By integrating with the local community, industry aren't merely offering financial or infrastructural support. They're weaving into the fabric of the community's identity, listening to their needs, and co-creating solutions. It's a synergy where companies and the community grow together. As we strategize for the future, let's remember the power of local engagement and recognize the strategic value in the hearts of our local communities.
