Prime Day hype. I may be alone here, but I think Prime Day (or Day(s) as it now is for Amazon to annualise), only benefits Amazon. For most brands the discount/funding levels are crippling and in most cases you'll sell more for less. Your margins are smashed, perceived value declined and a precedent set for the future promotions and deal tenants. The deals are now chaotic, its almost impossible for smaller brands to track down their offer on site and I think its fair to say many consumers just hold off before the event to capitalise, therefore not really driving extra sales. So if you must spike your sales, we recommend "The Build Up to" or the "after the Event" periods traffic is still higher and competition less. For me, these Teir 1 Events are a race to the bottom with only Amazon benefiting. Prime Day 2023 - Done ✅ Leading up to the event we were cautious about what the volume would look like this year with a lot of conversation in the Amazon space was generally negative about what sales might look like. However, from a Mercātus perspective we were very happy with the days results! Our standout client result took us all by surprise, after doing £18k over Prime Day 2022 we were expecting growth in line with current YOY trends at around 40%.
