It is widely acknowledged that women have historically faced greater barriers when it comes to fully participating in economic life. But what does the path to solving this problem look like? Inclusive leaders and organizations outperform those that are not, yet women remain under-represented at all levels of management. Organizations and society need to create spaces and opportunities for women to spark, to motivate, and to mentor the next generation of female leaders. Diversity on boards encompasses more than just gender representation. Viewing diversity through the lens of different perspectives is essential for progress. HKEX currently has only 19% women board members, we cannot underestimate the importance of enhancing diversity at leadership levels. Embracing diversity not only fosters agility and resilience but also equips organizations to navigate change effectively and propel business growth. Thanks to The Women's Foundation for a great discussion. #Diversity #Leadership #BusinessGrowth #womantowatch

Women of color continue to be underrepresented in leadership roles across sectors. In a study published in January of this year, the effects of racial and gender biases that contribute to the consistent underrepresentation of minority women in leadership roles within American private, public, and third sector organizations are examined and scrutinized. The authors recognize the compounded biases that accompany the combination of gender and race, and emphasize that the double bind of facing discrimination due to their racial and gender identities underscores the resilience and determination of Black women leaders. Few attempts have been made to quantify racial bias and measure its impact on women leaders; this study does just that.
