The past few years have witnessed a whirlwind of activity in the aircraft transactions business. Airplanes sell practically before the ink is dry on the for-sale sign. And, while most transactions are straightforward, whether you are a buyer or seller, you still need to ensure that all your concerns are covered before the deal is done. According to the attendees at AIN’s 2023 CALS, four factors are critical to ensuring that your next aircraft transaction goes according to plan: selecting the right airplane, a by-the-book pre-buy, transparency, and concise communications. #aviation #aircrafttransactions #fleetmanagement #aircraftleasing

The lemonade created for me during COVID-19 was the push to get out of my comfort zone and enter new industries. It excites me whenever I learn a new language, especially in the high-tech industry. Being in the judge's seat at the FACE competition is a significant milestone and a realization of my path. The Future Air Cargo Executive Competition promotes innovation in aviation through young, creative, and promising leaders under the leadership of the International Air Transport Association. #enablinginsight #managementconsultancy #supplychainmanagement #aviationsupplychain #logisticsmanagement #aviationcargo #operationalexcellence #operationaloptimization #logisticssecurity #aviationsecurity

When the legendary Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, a paragon of military brilliance, shares his insights, it is as if the spirit of leadership itself has chosen to articulate its essence through the eloquent voice of one who has weathered the storms of command. In the backdrop of the release of his cinematic portrayal in "Sam Bahadur," (which I am yet to watch) this interview resurfaced in my Newsfeed, offering a rare glimpse into the mind of a leader who navigated the tumultuous terrain of the armed forces during the 4 wars including World War II. My own family has two generations of Army officers between these 4 wars between my grandfather and my father. My grandfather was a doctor in the British Army mentioned-in-dispatches owing to his bravery and service during the Kohima Mission. We grew up listening to stories of Sam Manekshaw’s bravery and integrity, didn’t really understand the significance until I was much older. "There is no such thing as a wrong decision. What matters is once a decision is taken, make it right," encapsulates the essence of leadership – decisiveness coupled with a commitment to transform decisions into triumphs. Listening to Manekshaw's words cut through the complexities of leadership, providing lessons that resonate not only in the barracks but reverberate in the boardrooms where leaders grapple with seemingly insurmountable challenges. In the realm of large teams facing adversity, the Army stands as an epitome of resilience and discipline. Manekshaw’s words are a beacon for everyone at the helm of vast teams, confronting challenges that appear formidable. As the interview unfolded, Manekshaw's reflections encapsulate a lifetime of leadership, reflecting on the importance of camaraderie, resilience, and the indomitable spirit that propels teams to transcend their limits. "A soldier's first battlefield is his own mind," revealing the profound truth that leadership begins with conquering one's internal battles. In the echo of Manekshaw's words, there's a resonance that transcends generations a testament to the enduring legacy of a leader whose impact extends far beyond the battlefield. A great beginning to my day..

This is such a good book.
"Victories are not won by the many but by the valiant." - Hernán Cortés "What nation that has ruled the world has never faced defeat? What renowned captain, I ask, ever returned home because he lost a battle or was expelled from a town? Not one, certainly, for without perseverance, they would not have conquered or triumphed." I've been engrossed in a book I can't put down: "Conquistador: Hernán Cortés, King Montezuma, and the Last Stand of the Aztecs" by Buddy Levy. This is one of the most fascinating accounts of this period in history, and I'm disappointed I didn't start learning more about it until recently.

“Esta indecisión me molesta” a former boss once told me as I went full Hamlet and vacillated between courses of action. Not quite, though: He definitely didn’t quote The Clash, and his words might have been a little more…colorful, but the point was well-taken: “Make a decision.” That said, it’s difficult to make timely and competent decisions under pressure and in the face of consequence; it’s tough to underwrite risk on the spot. In his book, 'The Attributes: 25 Hidden Drivers of Optimal Performance', Rich Diviney adds one more variable to the equation: “A decision that isn’t clear and firm isn’t a decision at all - it’s permission to consider a list of options.” Luckily, history has no shortage of examples of timely and competent decision-making under extreme stress. Head on over to ‘Useful Trivia’ for Part 1 in a series of articles on how this most elusive of leadership qualities, decisiveness in the face of complexity, was modeled in the waters north of the Hawaiian Islands, under circumstances that aren’t hyperbolically described as ‘momentous’. And, thanks to Rich Diviney for letting me quote him here. Please do check out his book and his website (also called 'The Attributes'). For those unfamiliar with Rich’s work, he’s done an thorough job identifying and analyzing the underlying characteristics that make people successful when they face the unknown.
