🌐✨The City of Charlotte’s Multimodal Assessments Explained Multimodal Assessments are one of three types of transportation assessments that may be required under the CTR Guidelines. The goal is to identify pedestrian, bicycle, and transit infrastructure needs. The assessment is categorized into three tiers that align with zoning and trip generation, prompting varying mitigation levels. CTR aligns with the Council's mobility impact mitigation commitment, solidified by the Charlotte Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Mobility Plan. Aiming for 50% single-occupancy vehicle trips, these plans pave the way for sustainable urban growth. 💡🛣️ Key Components: 1. Sidewalks and Paths: Identifying compliance gaps. 2. Intersections and Ramps: Ensuring accessibility. 3. Pedestrian Crossings: Evaluating needs. 4. Street Lighting: Enhancing visibility. 📝🔄 Submission Requirements: Applicants integrate a comprehensive Multimodal Assessment in the CTR Report, documenting mitigation points, proposed solutions, and physical plans. Aligning with ADA and CDOT guidelines, they address accessibility and mobility goals. Charlotte's Multimodal Assessments not only meet current needs but shape a future where urban development seamlessly integrates with accessible and sustainable transportation. Twin Cities Boulevard is practical, not radical. Toole Design Group, Visible City, Smart Mobility, and Our Streets released a new report today analyzing the feasibility of a highway-to-boulevard conversion in the Twin Cities. The Rethinking I-94 project is one of the most consequential infrastructure projects in Twin Cities history and will impact multiple generations. “Reimagining I-94: A Report on Reparative Highway Alternatives & Evaluation Metrics” addresses how removing I-94 would work, what it might look like, and what the community benefits would be. It also provides recommendations to ensure that the Minnesota Department of Transportation evaluates highway removal options accurately and fairly. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gtWUPJEx

🚗 Rozelle Interchange: Navigating Unexpected Chaos and Professional Reflection Navigating the chaos at Sydney's Rozelle Interchange has been a personal journey for me, deeply involved in design, construction, operations, and maintenance. In the unpredictable world of construction, it often feels like everything decides to join the chaos when things go awry, exposing a lack of ownership. As you may be aware, the recently unveiled Rozelle Interchange, crafted to alleviate Sydney's congestion, has instead become a commuter's nightmare. Originally intended to ease traffic, the four-year project has morphed into a headache for motorists, with unexpected delays and confusion causing frustration. This underscores the pressing need for a comprehensive evaluation and rectification. As a professional in design management, construction, and operations, I navigate the intricacies of infrastructure development. Since my arrival in Australia, there's been a call for a more integrated approach, addressing the disconnection among stakeholders and the prevalent siloed approach across various departments—from procurement to design management, construction, buildability, operations, maintenance, and handback. Moreover, the significant shortage of engineering graduates in Australia, coupled with a preference for generalists over specialists and a scarcity of middle management, adds another layer of complexity. Bridging this gap is crucial for fostering innovation, overcoming project challenges, and establishing sustainable solutions. It's not just about reacting urgently to current issues with a comprehensive fix; it's also about proactively preventing future situations reminiscent of the chaos experienced at Rozelle. #RozelleInterchange #InfrastructureChallenges #TrafficNightmare #EngineeringGap 🚦🛣️👩🔧👨🔧 https://lnkd.in/gSffsjGc
