In May I began my remote market research externship with HUGO BOSS where I chose to focus on evaluating HUGO’s Instagram strategy. I conducted primary customer research with Gen Z to evaluate perceptions and generated unique insights on their response to HUGO BOSS’ brand expression and strategy that the brand could implement in the future. I conducted comparative analysis with brand competitors to evaluate their position in targeting this generation and created a final presentation summarising my findings and recommendations. A few of my most interesting findings were observing interviewees dissociate themselves from Gen Z as well as their desire to see “real” content in an age that is so heavily digital. As a bonus, this cemented the idea that perhaps AI would not replace the need for humans. Beyond that, I was able to understand that rather than being labelled as individuals with a short attention span, Gen Z could be appreciated for the speed at which they take in information. This finding in particular played a pivotal role in my work since in order to market to this generation, brands must understand them beyond perpetuated stereotypes. Thanks to the Paragon One team and especially guidance from Max Siegrist, MA and Michael Guerrero I was able to complete the externship. A highlight of the experience would definitely be receiving positive feedback on a team project I presented, from Petra Optatzy, Manager Global Customer and Marketing Insights.

Reflecting on My 3-Year Journey as a Merchandiser Since childhood, my passion for fashion and styling led me to pursue a diploma in fashion designing. However, upon realizing that my true calling lay in the dynamic world of merchandising, I shifted my focus during an internship and embarked on a fulfilling journey. I thoroughly enjoyed this role, and over my three-year journey, I've gathered valuable insights. Here are some key points: 1. Be confident and clear in your commands. 2. Keep your mind and ears open for continuous learning and practice. 3. Acknowledge that honesty isn't always the best policy. 4. Understand that every problem has a solution; being quick to find it is crucial. 5. Recognize that smart work complements hard work for increased efficiency. 6. While the boss is usually right, they appreciate questions and feedback as it reflects your ability to think independently. I believe learning has no age or time constraints, and I look forward to adding more experiences in the future. Feel free to share your merchandising insights so we can continue learning together! Thanks! 🙌 #merchandising #keeplearning #solutionsprovider #work #linkedinconnection #linkedincommunity #learnandgrow #keepitsimple #sourcingagent #merchandisingjobs #buyersagent #buyinghouse #exportimport

Rise to the retail league your brand deserves. I help your retail team be more agile, generate more value & save money, time & energy. | 20+ years of exp. in 120 countries | 1000+ opened boutiques
I do what I do today in 2024, but it all began in the 1930's... Retail is more than just opening a store. It's about creating unforgettable experiences. I remember this from my childhood. My grandparents owned a neighborhood bakery. And guess what? They faced the same problems as we still do today: - Lack of agility - Generating more value - Saving money, time, and energy One day, because of changing habits and competition from supermarkets, they almost went out of business. What if there was a way to make boutique creation more agile, generate more value while saving time, money, and increase revenue? After finishing my studies, I went in search of an answer. I did some crazy internships: - At Air France (I even got to board the Concord) - At the Bristol in Paris (one of the most luxurious Palace in Paris) - At the Park Hotel Vitznau in Switzerland near Lucerne. My quest also took me out of Europe to work at Disney in Florida…like in a fairytale! I learned about retail... merchandizing and product category, but not yet about how to make boutique creation simpler and more efficient. My research then took me to the Big Apple: - At the Essex House on Central Park - At the St. Regis on 5th Avenue At 35, I moved on to Paris, the city of lights, and joined the Häagen-Dazs boutique network as a regional manager. Then onwards and upwards to Switzerland, continuing my retail training with Nespresso and IQOS in boutique deployment. After many years of researching and implementing, I had an epiphany…and my mission became clear. I have opened over 1,000 boutiques in more than 120 countries with the help of over 200 suppliers and partners; all with a sustainable development approach! With over 20 years of experience in retail, I realised that I should stop gatekeeping my expertise in retail so I founded Brand Retail Solutions. For one reason only: To allow professionals as passionate as my grandparents to create unique experiences without breaking a sweat. It's possible to create more value while saving time, money, and energy with your boutiques. And that's exactly what I can do for you and would love to share my knowledge. I invite you to my webinar on June 5, where I will share with you the 5 steps to open a boutique stress-free. Click on the link in the comments to register for free. And you, what inspired you to do what you do today?

‘I want to move to Manchester and work at Boohoo’. I remember saying those exact words to my tutor Claire Stacey at The Fashion Retial Academy whilst doing my degree, and now I have done exactly that. But bagging this job was hard like any other job whilst in a terrible job market. Although most would say rejection emails were why they didn’t get their job, my experience was slightly different. The ongoing feedback I had from every job was ‘You were great but we’ve went with someone with more experience’. I didn’t really realise how unfortunate it can be to hear that everything went more than well in the interview and nothing is actually wrong with you as a candidate, but because of the lesser experience I had (even whilst already having some experience in that particular area), I didn’t get the job. So how could I improve then? Try and spend days again trying to find a job in that specific area that I didn’t have enough experience in, but with the likely chance of missing other opportunities? It’s a hard one and something I only considered for a moment. But then I remembered. My CV is a beast. This is where your worth and the hope that an employer will look at everything as a whole rather than piece by piece in the search of the ‘perfect’ candidate. I know I’ve worked hard on my CV and the time that I’ve dedicated to work experience within the fashion industry, to know what employers are picking you apart and the ones that will take the chance. Not only did the stars align and I got that job I wanted after all of the rejection but I learnt that it really does just take one employer to say yes. It’s important that employers understand that most of what your asking for is not rocket science, it’s always something a candidate can learn and won’t alter their overall growth or capabilities. So now, with not all the necessary experience but a bunch of experience, a killer attitude and some witty humour, I am now starting my journey at Boohooman as an Online Visual Merchandiser Assistant.
