Raising awareness about mental illness is important but everybody knows somebody... We need to care more. And real caring means resources and effort. Acceptance and reaching out, not indifference and rejection. Having dealt with mental illness in some of those closest to me I know you can't always change the outcome but as a society we should work at it. Be a person to lean on. Find someone to lean on. Keep pushing for more to be that someone.

On January 19, 2024, the Commandant released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) proposing a system of shipping safety fairways along the Atlantic Coast. This NPRM is posted to USCG-2019-0279 and is open for public comment through April 18, 2024. The rulemaking proposes eighteen fairways providing space for safe, unobstructed vessel traffic along the Eastern Seaboard from Florida to Massachusetts. There are also proposed changes to the Traffic Separation Schemes and one fairway anchorage off the Delaware Bay. Several precautionary areas have been changed or added as well, in approaches to major ports to ensure navigation safety within the U.S. Marine Transportation System. #coastguard #marinesafety #NPRM #atlanticcoast #maritimeassociationofsc

A simple Google search for a 1987 Congressional hearing entitled DISCRIMINATION AGAINST BLACKS AT UNITED AIRLINES will lead you to information about how many black pilots at United got hired in the late 80's and early 90's. If you do a deeper internet search you'll find even more bold yet unsuccessful attempts by black captains to move up the ladder into UAL management. For some strange reason, civil rights groups like the NAACP, Urban League and National Action Network failed to provide any meaningful support of our efforts. Unfortunately, it seems that DEI was a sham as every conceivable effort was made to keep black captains who complained from decision making managerial positions. That's why at some point in the next 5 to 50 years black pilots will eventually see that the time for AFRICAMERICA AIRLINES has arrived. It's inevitable that Africans and African Americans will complete the circle that began in 1619 when we return by the thousands annually to Africa to visit or to stay on a transatlantic airline owned and operated primarily by Africans and African Americans this time around. Thanks to the spirit of Captain Marlon Green, Captain Jim Edwards and others AFRICAMERICA AIRLINES will fly someday!

It is both frankly astonishing and alarming that our industry has to continue dealing with illegal flying activity. The Air Charter Association is in an ongoing fight against those that have a blatant disregard for regulation and keeping the travelling public safe but it needs a concerted effort from all within our sector to effectively manage and mitigate this ongoing issue as far as practicably possible.
