There appears to be some confusion for many trucking companies when it comes to attempting to recruit drivers. From previous LinkedIn polls we've conducted, it's apparent that the #DriverRecruiting Departments may not be being run by #SalesProfessionals, but actually by folks that most likely have an #Operations, #Safety, or #HumanResources background. Yet, in one of those most recent polls, a majority of respondents believed that #DriverRecruiting was a #SalesDriven department. And thus, THERE is the dilemma ... Folks #WITHOUT #Sales #Experience, #Training or even a desire for a #Sales position are thrust into a #SalesLeadership position ... and are #FAILING, by no fault of their own. They are doing the #BEST they can to #SUCCEED. But just like me being in #Operations in Iraq (working for KBR, Inc.) in which I failed miserably, despite putting forth my best effort ... many #DriverRecruiting #Directors are just not well suited for the position, as they are #Operations, #Safety, or #HR folks first. How can I make such a damning indictment? Easily, for allow me to give you a perfect example ... Below is a "Job Posting" on a highly reputable carrier's website. https://lnkd.in/g-rRhC5s When you read the "Job Posting" does it #INSPIRE you, wanting you to stop everything to submit an on-line application? When you read the "Job Posting" do you say to yourself ... "Wow, I can see myself driving for XYZ Company"? Or does the "Job Posting" look like it came out of #CentralCasting" from the #HR Dept? And a well-intentioned individual from #HR or the #DriverRecruiting Dept no doubt feels really good about this "Job Posting" because it provides #ALL the information they would want to know about the job. But since #DriverRecruiting is #SALES, the "Job Posting" is a bust and is #BORING !! Why is it #BORING ?? Because it's a #JOB #DESCRIPTION, #NOT a #JOB #POSTING !! What are #YOUR thoughts ? .
