Read on to learn about Rachael’s motivation and why she’s dedicated to the American Cancer Society mission.  What inspires you to support the American Cancer Society through its Associate Board of Ambassadors (ABOA)? I support this cause in memory of my loved ones who have been touched by cancer. I aim to carry on their legacy of impact and to bring our world one step closer to making cancer a thing of the past. What is your favorite memory from being an ABOA member? Attending my first Discovery Ball and Skyline Soiree in 2023. That was my first full year on the ABOA board so I’m looking forward to experiencing these events for a second time. When you think about your time on the ABOA, what are you most proud of? I'm proud to have spread the ACS's mission and impact to my personal and professional communities. If you could have dinner with 3 living celebrities (all together), who would they be? Dax Shepherd, Dan Levy, and Jane Fonda. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be? Provence If you could see one movie again for the first time, what would it be and why? Crazy, Stupid, Love – to relive the first experience of the plot twist. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Act like the person you want to become.

It's been quite a journey since the summer of 2003 when I found myself in a chemotherapy chair, battling cancer. But today, I stand before you, not just as a survivor, but as a beacon of hope and resilience. During those challenging times, my dear friend Charley Lavalle did something extraordinary. He hired a film crew to document one of my chemotherapy sessions and asked me a series of questions that led to a powerful revelation. I shared how the words "Find A Way" had not only helped me realize my dreams but were now guiding me through the fight for my life. Charley's challenge to write a book about "Find a Way" and share it with the world was a pivotal moment. My response was simple: "Charley, if I survive cancer, I will write that book and share that message." Well, I did survive cancer, and today, my passion is to share the "Find A Way" philosophy to help others discover their own path in life. I am thrilled to announce that I am now booking 2024 speaking engagements to share the power of "Find A Way." Whether it's in a corporate setting, at a conference, or any event where inspiration and motivation are needed, I'm here to empower your team to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. It’s National Cancer Thriver Day. Nobody ever wants to hear those 3 words, “You have cancer.” Those words are devastating & lifechanging. Cancer doesn’t stop after your final treatment. It’s with you forever with lingering alignments or internal scars. I choose to not allow Cancer to make me a victim, so I prefer to be called a Thriver instead of a Survivor. Cancer is nothing to be ashamed of or hide, but an obstacle that has given you a hidden super power & badge of honor. 🎗️ Today, on #WorldCancerDay, I want to raise awareness about the countless individuals impacted by this relentless disease. More people than we realize are touched by cancer, either directly or through a loved one. 🤝 Sending a heartfelt hug to everyone facing the challenges of cancer. Your strength and resilience inspire us all. 🌟 Personally, my life took an unexpected turn when cancer entered. Losing my father was devastating, and a year ago, my sister battled a fierce sarcoma. Life changed, priorities shifted, and every moment became precious. It's a total rollercoaster once cancer becomes a part of your story. Long periods of uncertainty, difficult tests, waiting times, and challenging treatments make it a continuous rollercoaster. Once cancer enters your life, it never leaves in a way. The checking periods keep your worries alive forever. 💙 Grateful for the support from companies like Philips during my father's illness and DAF Trucks NV during my sister's challenging times. Their compassion made a significant difference. 🏢 It's crucial for companies to understand the impact of cancer on individuals and families. Time for recovery is vital; pushing patients to return prematurely adds unnecessary burden. Let's prioritize empathy and support in the workplace. 🔬 Let's hope that advancements in science will lead us towards eradicating this terrible sickness. In the meantime, together, we can at least provide support to those going through the journey. Got a Vegas shirt! My first Hard Rock shirt!! The instant I saw it, I knew it was coming home with me. I usually keep it light and personal on a Saturday. Today, I’ll still be personal. But not so light. You see…. I’m missing a body part. But that’s okay, because I’m still alive to talk about it. And talk about it we should. This month, last year somehow, someway I did a daily post the whole month of October about my breast cancer journey. 32 posts in all. (One day merited a bonus.) I wasn’t working, so I had more time. (Lay-off bonus! 😉🥴) I’ll reprise some of the posts. Maybe pen a few new ones. Not for me. For you. Talking about the one un-talkable thing. This is the month. This is the time. This is hard. But being proactive saves lives. It saved mine. And if talking and writing and posting saves just one other life, then this sheer fright of sharing, petrified of pressing post, will be worth it. 2023 - I Beat Cancer Post No. 1 (Updated version of 2022 Post No. 1) ✨✨✨✨✨ 2014 was my cancer/chemo year. It was not the only significant thing happening in my life, and more was on its way. But I survived. And if I survived all of that, so will you.
