5 years ago, I was offered the position of General Manager of a large scale onsite community, still under development. I was warned it was a challenging community. Years of being unable to find a good manager and high tensions between the homeowners and developer had left a lot of problems to wade through. But I love a good challenge, so I accepted the position. I quickly learned that there is a fine line between taking on a challenge and just plain being a masochist! Never have I been stretched as a manager as I was at this community, but neither have I ever reaped such rewards in my career. I learned so much and met some truly amazing people, both homeowners and vendors. My staff was truly next level, and I was beyond proud to lead them, teach them, and celebrate wins with them. I created relationships that I know will follow me for many years. When I started, I made a commitment to myself, my employer, the community, and the developer that I would get them through to turnover. I promise, there were days I had to remind myself why, especially in the face of hostile and abusive homeowners, but I'm proud of my dedication to push through. It was worth it. At the end of March, the community turned over and my "5-year plan" was fulfilled. With a grateful heart, a few tears, and a lot of relief, I left the community that has been my home-away-from-home. After a much-needed break, I am happy to announce that I have accepted the position as Executive Director of The Homeowners Association of Twin Lakes. I'm very proud to join an amazing team and a wonderful community. I'm blessed to do what I love! (Pictured is my past team at Eagle Creek on my last day. They are the best!)
You are amazing. I know how tough that was and how easy you made it look. Congrats.
