By creating products with more active concentration and following best practices for efficient manufacturing, Kemin can lower its direct emissions. For example, highly concentrated liquid products reduce the amount of packaging needed and allow us to ship more in fewer loads, lowering its carbon footprint. #sustainability #KeminSustainability

👍 Earlier this year, the PlastChem project launched its report on the state of the science of plastic chemicals (https://lnkd.in/eyD827eE). ❗Important discoveries reveal that more than 16,000 chemicals are identified in plastic materials and products, yet less than 6% of them are regulated on a global scale. Additionally, the annual production volumes of nearly 4,000 plastic chemicals surpass 1,000 tons. In addition, Over 4,200 chemicals were classified as “of concern”. 🥦 For our #WrappedInChemicals campaign, we’ve summed it up in one sentence: “Plastics often contain toxic chemicals” 👉 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dRbWJnfd

Dr.-Ing. , Founder of SATOORNIK, Environmental Scientist, Water and Wastewater, Micro/nanoplastic, Plastic, Innovation Tech, Climate Heat, Science-based Startup
I just read pages from the 2024 PlastChem report, "State-of-the-science on plastic chemicals" link below. #Chemicals are essential to #plastic production but also pose significant environmental and health risks, as outlined in the report. The research identifies over 16,000 chemicals in plastics, with less than 6% currently regulated globally. 🌍 Worryingly, nearly 4,000 chemicals have production volumes exceeding 1,000 tons per year, highlighting a substantial gap in global regulation. With 1300+ known chemicals of concern marketed for use in plastics, and 29–66% of chemicals found in well-studied plastic types being worrisome, the need for action is evident. Hence, innovation and regulatory measures is crucial for transitioning towards a non-toxic future. 💡 We confirm our commitment at SATOORNIK to collaborate with governments and companies to address the threat of microplastics, demonstrating our dedication to sustainability and proactive solutions. #PlastChemReport #PlasticChemicals #Sustainability #Regulation #Microplastics #SATOORNIK Link to the report: https://lnkd.in/eh24TAKr
