Yesterday we proved that we could indeed be in two places at once, as we hosted Tequila and Whiskey tasting experiences in both Austin and Boston. Each gathering brought Finance and Accounting Operation leaders together to explore the possibilities GenAI has to offer when considering new opportunities to streamline organizational workflows. Here are a few takeaways from the conversations 1. Adopting AI powered tools has continued to prove opportunistic for smaller teams by enabling them to expand (without additional headcount) and encourage the development of existing team members through increased bandwidth, allowing them to focus on more strategic projects. 2. To Identify automation opportunities, focus on tasks that are repetitive, time-consuming, or error-prone, particularly in areas with dedicated analysts. 3. Throughout the evolution of AI, data privacy continues to be a concern. Today, applications are utilizing enterprise versions that are closed and ensure data security. I'm back home from MOPs-Apalooza. Everyone I’ve spoken to today from this community is talking about what a great event it was. Hats off to Mike Rizzo, Dan Mott, Audrey Harze, and the rest of the #mopsapalooza team! Amazing job! I loved that there was so much time to engage with community members without having to give up time in sessions. Conference themes as I experienced them: ▶️ Technology ▶️ Communication ▶️ Talent These came up over and over. Both during the sessions as well as in conversations throughout the three days. Technology is changing faster than ever. Scott Brinker went into quite a bit of detail on Data, Composability, and AI in the keynote. These themes came up in several other sessions. There was a deep dive discussion on Data Mesh and Data as a Product given by Ryan Vong. And a thought-provoking discussion on AI by Paul Wilson. Paul happens to be a master at utilizing analogies to make concepts relatable. Even with the advent of GPT, human communication is more important than ever. Jessica Kao and David Alexander ran a session called Translating Geek Speak to CMO Speak. David talked about communicating the impacts of Business Objectives and Key Results (OKR). Insights instead of data. In doing so, Operations takes on a more strategic and more senior role in the organization. Scott Vaughan ran a panel called “How to Create the Ultimate CMO-MOPs Love Story”. Talent and skills came up throughout the discussion. Technology and communications prowess is most impactful in growth-oriented innovators. These innovators are architects and consultants who look to collaborate across functions. They approach problems with curiosity and aren't afraid to learn and bring new ideas to the table. With rapid change, organizations need this talent to thrive and grow.
