Co-Founder & CEO at Owlet Baby Care

"I cried when I heard the news" is the most common sentiment I've heard today. For the entire Owlet family, partners and friends it's clear what today means. This marks a monumental turning point in the 11-year journey with Owlet, and I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering commitment of the Owlet team and board. The path has been far from easy, as many of you are aware. Two years ago, we received a sobering warning letter from the FDA that shook my world. Jordan, Zack and I took a walk that day to process the situation and be together in that challenging moment. The weight of the situation was overwhelming, leaving me feeling trapped within my own body. I didn't know how to process it so I picked up a rock (as seen in the third picture) and used it as a physical representation of the painful emotions I was grappling with. For the past two years, I've carried this rock in my pocket, a symbol of the painful journey. With today's announcement of Owlet securing the first-ever FDA clearance for over-the-counter pulse oximetry monitoring, I can finally release this rock. I've been dreaming of the day when I could toss it back. However, an unexpected connection has developed, and I'm oddly grateful for it. It has become a reminder of past mistakes, a metaphorical chip on my shoulder, and a symbol of life's imperfections. Most importantly it's a reminder to me of the goodness of the people around me who have shared this pain with me and helped me work through it. As a result, I've chosen to hold onto it. I'm deeply grateful to the exceptional team members at Owlet who persevered through challenges, to the extended Owlet family, including past employees, investors, partners, and friends, whose unwavering support sustained us. A special acknowledgment is due to the FDA for their role in helping us achieve this significant milestone. I am full of gratitude. Thank you! #breakingnews #Owlet #DreamSock #FDA #healthtech #innovation #resilience #parenting #childhealthcare #baby #babycare #tech

Kurt Workman this is amazing news. I am so pleased to see that Owlet has been FDA approved. Owlet is an amazing product providing critical data needed to save lives. Last August Owlet saved my 3 day old nephew’s life by helping us see that he was having a stroke. Because of Owlet we were able to immediately get help. The doctors tried to insist that the data from Owlet showing lack of oxygen was wrong and that we should wait and watch. Trusting the data we knew this was not the case. Had we not been able to act so quickly he would not be with us today.

Even reading this made me cry. I’m so proud of you and the team! This is something we have all wanted for so so long. We knew it was extremely important for the mission of Owlet so to be apart of it happening is the feeling that dreams do come true, and that feeling gives me so much hope and excitement for the future and all the other innovative ideas we have been working on and they will have their moment to help parents and Babies everywhere!

I wonder what that rock will go for on eBay. This is huge news. Owlet and you have made the world a better place for parents and a safer place for babies!!!

Sometimes you believe without know how to explain it fully. I remember many times feeling that way about Owlet, it's team and their mission and expressing that to any who asked. For all the good it can and will do, it deserves to succeed. Truly great visions persist through challenges and every great vision has many. Like the birth and raising of a child, it does not come easy, but is so worth all the effort, hope and sacrifice of loving and concerned parents, imperfect as they always are. I feel grateful to have been a part, however small, in helping Owlet as they "love and raise" this great vision. Can't wait to see all it grows up to become!

The biggest congratulations! This product will forever be our favorite baby product & we firmly believe it saved our 4 year old when he was new to the world. Just bought a new one for my brother’s soon-to-be baby. Thank you for giving us peace of mind and for our son. ❤️

Kurt Workman This is a product update that my infant needs. We are currently using a medical grade pluse and oxygen monitor but it very bulky and required a direct cord connection. Baby Sat is ultimately going to be the direction we are going, but this update is a Godsend.
