For many women in remote areas, mammograms are rarely within reach. No wonder 58% of #BreastCancer deaths occur in less developed countries, where access to diagnostics is limited and 80% of breast cancer cases are diagnosed at the metastatic stage. If doctors and diagnostics can’t reach these remote communities, how can we get to them to detect cancer sooner? We found a way. And with a lot of collaboration, creativity, and the remarkable help of our clients and our four-legged friends, we’re helping to drive the early diagnoses of thousands of women across three continents. Did you know that more aggressive subtypes of breast cancer, such as triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and inflammatory breast cancer, disproportionately impact Black women? Black women are also more likely to be diagnosed when they are younger and at a later stage of the disease. Disparities may also be explained in part by social, economic, and behavioral variables. This Tuesday, our HR department organized an enlightening session led by the esteemed Dr. Kohe Alexandre from Avenue Hospital. From explaining the meanings to dissecting the pathology of various cancers, we were immersed in a conversation that left us feeling not just informed but empowered.
