New Post: Pub chain giant to start charging more during peak times Stonegate is the UK's biggest pub chain with over 4,500 venues as the brand shared that 800 will now have higher prices on items during weekends and evenings. The dynamic pricing comes as a way to cover the higher costs affecting Stonegate and to cover the costs of more security and staff during those peak times.  It's not the first time an industry has introduced dynamic pricing, with companies like Ticketmaster using it for in-demand shows. Stonegate to introduce price hikes to pubs Customers at Stonegate venues will be made aware of the price hikes as the brand confirmed there would be notices in pubs.  Stonegate is set to charge more at peak times. (Image: Getty) Previously, Stonegate upped prices during the football World Cup, where an extra 50p was added to pints during England matches.  Discussing the price hike, a Stonegate spokesperson told the BBC: "Like all retail businesses, we regularly review pricing to manage costs but also to ensure we offer great value for money to our guests." Adding: "This flexibility may mean that on occasions pricing may marginally increase in selective pubs and bars due to the increased cost demands on the business with additional staffing or licensing requirements such as additional door team members." Whilst products may be more expensive at peak times, Stonegate also shared that it means they can offer better deals.  Within less busy times they can offer discounts like happy hour, two-for-one cocktails, discounts on food and drinks and more. The Cleveland Browns have found success with their Express Beer concession, even adding more locations since their last home game. In an attempt to engage and provide fans with the ultimate fan experience, the Browns have not only made ticketing seamless, but they've extended the technology to concessions which allow fans to grab their refreshments and return to the game in a flash. Here are the results the Browns have seen since the start of the season: -In response to the popularity of the Express Beer concession that allows fans to purchase beer, cocktails, water, and snacks with their face the Browns added more iPads to each Express Beer locations for enrollment in the program. -The Browns saw a 45% increase in transactions from game 1 to game 2. -The Browns and Aramark, the stadiums caterer, say the Express Beer has dramatically reduced beer line wait times. This is because facial recognition technology can verify a fans age and identity much faster than traditional methods, such as checking ID's. Total Occupancy for the stadium is 65,000 total. - Average price per ticket was $8,600 USD. - 150,000 visitors on top of the 300,000 regular visitors were considered to attend the event in Las Vegas for this special event. - Hotel rates around 2.5 times the average with an average price per night around $570 USD, and it seems that 91% occupancy was reached. - Consumer spending on CPG food & beverage ads hit up to $2.3 billion during the Super Bowl week. The estimated total consumer spending was at 17.3 billion U.S. dollars, an average of just over 85 U.S. dollars. on purchases related to the Super Bowl, mainly on food and beverages. The most popular foods were 73% chips & dips, 52% pizza, 45% alcoholic beverages, 37% fruits and vegetables, 37% premade appetizers. - Airflight tickets average around $600 USD. 112% higher than a normal weekend to Las Vegas and 1,500 expected private Jets to arrive for the event. Ground transportation-fares to and from the airport, hotel and game around 300 USD. American Airlines and United Airlines promote their customized flights experiences around the teams, #TravisKelce, Taylor Swift, #PatrickMahomes. About the National Football League (NFL) Brand - Around $7 million range per 30-second spot broadcast on TV. 59 commercials were shown during the Game. Brands such as State Farm, Dunkin', Kia America, Uber Eats, Dove, BMW Group, #Budweiser, Verizon, #Doritos were ranked as the top commercial this year. #Oreos, Pringles, #MountainDew, Doritos and #M&Ms dominated the ad line up. -123 million average TV viewers through @CBS, Paramount+, Univision and Nickelodeon. How awesome and random is it that PizzaExpress is a cornerstone of London’s jazz scene? It’s been that way since 1969. “Live music has always been an important part of PizzaExpress. Founder Peter Boizot was a jazz lover and constantly sought ways to include music in his restaurants, whether at PizzaExpress branches from the late 1960s or at his other ventures like Pizza on the Park and Kettner's from the 1970s.” This is a perfect example of the potential of physical spaces. Customers today crave physical experiences. (Beyond just shopping and buying). And yes brands are constantly trying to do activations within stores. But many miss the mark. Leveraging data-learning on a brand’s customer is integral to making this work. Brands need to analyse their customer to understand what other interests their audience follows, engages with and are interested in. They need to follow those interests and apply double layered thinking to their retail experiences. While trends of this layered thinking or ‘eatertainment’ are on the rise; PizzaExpress has been successfully doing it for decades. This is broader than retail; it applies to all types of environments. Entertainment venues like Box Park and ARCADE have thrived because they offer activities alongside dining and shopping. All Star Lanes, Battle Axe, and Flight Club combine food with activities, so why can’t more brand (across all sectors) start thinking about their physical spaces more like a media platform than a place to merely ‘buy? More restaurants/stores should be thinking like this.
