I’ve been sidelined by a cold. When I was younger and feelings-avoidant I would totally ignore all the signals my body was sending me and just dig in and work through illness. “Suck it up,” as they say. It didn’t matter that I accomplished far less in a much longer time. The important thing was I just.kept.working. Thankfully I don’t do THAT anymore. I’ve been resting and taking care of myself. So I was “you’ve got to be kidding me!” when I unwrapped a Halls to find these rise and grind affirmations on the wrapper: Don’t waste a precious minute Seize the day Don’t wait to get started Go get it! Impress yourself today. Flex your “can do” muscle. I usually love these brand touches on packaging and other seemingly less significant brand opportunities, but this, not so much. If I’m sucking on a Halls, it’s because I want relief for sore throat pain or the incessant spasming of a cough. Not because I want to Gary Vee my life. Halls had the opportunity to combat the culture of relentless productivity and encourage rest, ease, relaxation, and healing. How lovely that would have been.
“Gary Vee” your life - so good!
