The Los Angeles City Council on June 5 approved the addition of $200 million in contingency funds to the budget of the people mover project at Los Angeles International Airport to handle additional claims from the five-company prime contractor consortium building the line, bringing the total project cost to nearly $2.95 billion. The contingency funds were approved even as negotiations continue between Los Angeles World Airports, the city agency that runs LAX, and the contractor consortium, known as LAX Integrated Express Solutions, to resolve a series of disputes. Those disputes have helped push back the completion date by more than a year, to late next year. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gUBN2zMs

Have you missed our latest update? We've got another major development in the Northeast Corridor. We're moving closer to breaking ground on the Susquehanna River Rail Bridge by awarding three major contracts to a Flatiron/Herzog Joint Venture, Fay Construction and an AECOM-led team. This will revitalize the 117-year-old bridge, ushering in: 🕥Faster travel times. 📈Higher reliability. 🚄Safer travel. Another bonus is that these new contracts aren't just about improving rail travel but also creating more job opportunities for residents, boosting the local economy. As the longest moveable bridge on the NEC, the Susquehanna River Rail Bridge is a critical link for Amtrak, MARC rail, and Norfolk Southern, supporting over 110 passenger and freight trains daily. Currently, its limitations require trains to slow down, affecting efficiency. Want to know more about this development? Read more here: https://lnkd.in/et9TDYJz

Highway 91/17 and Deltaport Way Upgrade Project reaches completion. Traffic is moving well and safety has been improved for residents and businesses south of the Fraser River following the completion of the Highway 91/17 and Deltaport Way Upgrade Project. The project has improved safety for trucks and passenger vehicles along this major goods movement corridor by creating several new and upgraded interchanges and intersection improvements. The upgrades create better connectivity for transport trucks, saving time and reducing emissions. The $260-million project will accommodate future increases in traffic in one of B.C.’s fastest-growing regions. The design-builder of the Highway 91/17 upgrades, Pacific Gateway Constructors (PGC), employed an all-local workforce. PGC also awarded more than $16 million in contract value to local Indigenous businesses and partnerships through subcontracting opportunities. Funding partners of the broader program include the Government of Canada, the Province of British Columbia and the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. The $5.2-million 27B Avenue upgrades component of this project, delivered by the Province, was funded by the Tsawwassen First Nation and the Government of Canada. 🚧 Have you heard about the major upgrade planned for Scotland's transportation infrastructure? Transport Scotland has relaunched tenders for the £150M A9 Dualling Tomatin to Moy project following an unsuccessful procurement competition earlier this year. The project, which will transform a 9.6km stretch into a dual carriageway, is part of a wider £3bn initiative to dual the A9 between Perth and Inverness. The new contract, developed after extensive market consultation, aims to attract more bidders. It represents a significant shift in how Transport Scotland contracts its major infrastructure projects. This move aligns Transport Scotland with other notable clients across the UK and addresses many concerns previously expressed by industry. 💬 But what do you think about this new approach? And how will it impact Scotland's transportation landscape? Let's discuss. https://lnkd.in/evMQh59A #Transport #Scotland #Infrastructure
