Unexpectedly, here I am again today in A&E ! But I’m grateful it is today and I’ve got time to think (developing my Thinking Fearlessly courses). Next week, I'm heading to Cannes Lions! Following my talk on “Working with Cancer” at Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity last week, I've decided to share a personal story to help people build a “Fearless Mindset.” A fearless mindset fuels resilience, curiosity, creativity, growth, emotional intelligence, and the power of adapting and pivoting to face challenges amidst change. Since 2014, three times a year, I suffer from chronic cellulitis/sepsis in my arm. Even during COVID, I was in A&E three times, navigating the poly-tunnels. Quick treatment is crucial to survival. Thankfully, my cancer is gone, but the challenges persist. Thinking fearlessly during a cancer diagnosis and its aftermath is tough. I’ve had to build my mental fitness to cope with infections due to a weakened immune system. Key points: - I’m not retreating to a quiet life anytime soon. - I want to be seen as an ambitious woman eager to grow and work alongside you. - I have one life and I intend to live it fully. Thinking fearlessly is achievable with the right tools, coaching, and awareness. I’ve become an expert on building a “fearless mindset.” I have researched hundreds of books and articles and become a coach to reach this point. I believe in the power of resilience and a fearless mindset—not one without fear, but one where fear is the passenger, not the driver. My mission, #OneMillionThinkingFearlessly, aims to help others overcome fear and achieve growth. Focusing on fear only leads to stagnation. As the saying goes, “Where attention goes the energy flows.” ONWARDS and UPWARDS. Also, so excited to be a new member of WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications Leadership ) this year. Receiving the Thrive20 recognition this year from WeAreTheCity, is far more than a celebration of female entrepreneurship, and it rattles my imposter syndrome! It’s appreciation and a testament to the power of purpose in the world of business. TheSkarlette was born solely from purpose, and our customer feedback demonstrates just what a great thing we’re doing for this community of women affected by breast cancer surgery. It is possible to excel AND make a meaningful difference in the world. I always had a passion to make a difference, make a positive impact, and until I reached 50 I did this through nursing. I know that territory - safe, comfortable and confident in my knowledge and skills, having started my career at 16. Business though??? It’s a mine field! This is where the imposter syndrome comes in. I follow my heart, I have strong values and beliefs and that powers my passion. Our products are all about equity, diversity and innovation and that’s really important to me, and although I’m totally excited for the event, with all the incredible Thrive20 award winners, and meeting Vanessa Vallely OBE CCMI, I know I’ll feel like “What am I doing here?”. It’s so hard to recognise and appreciate your own achievements and much easier to undersell yourself, so I suppose it’s really important to have these awards - as much for me, as for inspiring and encouraging others 🌟 #entrepreneurship #innovation #purposedrivenbusiness
