We were honored to be invited by City of Los Angeles Council President Paul Krekorian to present LA Tourism’s signature culinary program, Dine LA, before the City Council this morning. LA Tourism's presentation, led by Adam Burke and Stacey Sun, highlighted the restaurant industry's crucial role in shaping communities, driving LA’s economy, and offering unique experiences for visitors and Angelenos alike. It was a privilege to stand beside Homegirl Café General Manager Pam Herrera, who represented one of our more than 400 participating Dine LA restaurants. Her story showcased how dining experiences can inspire, change lives, and bring hope to communities—a testament to the power of the restaurant industry. As one of the world's most dynamic and diverse culinary destinations, LA is excited to showcase culture through cuisine during Dine LA’s Summer program from July 12-26. It is always a joy to come together as a company during our townhalls. These sessions offer invaluable insights from all corners of Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe. With the guidance of Will Guidara's book, “Unreasonable Hospitality”, our time concluded with me posing a few questions: What are the little things that the restaurants you love do that make them your favorite restaurants? How can you create unique and tailored experiences for your guests that goes above and beyond their expectations? I shared a few stories of unforgettable dining experiences (including an over-the-top dinner in Tulum Mexico a few years back) - and asked everyone to share memories of moments where they were made to feel seen, known, and special by restaurateurs who went above and beyond. While we have always been committed to serving up great food from our kitchens, we were reminded that we need to strive to deliver nothing short of hospitality. It can start with a warm welcome that leads into engaging conversations. It can anticipate how to celebrate people’s big moments, and it is enhanced by something I call “benevolent eavesdropping”. By actively listening to guests' comments and conversations, we can learn how to add unique and individualized experiences for our guests (Read the book - and look for the story about hot dogs). Ensuring this sense of unreasonable hospitality is one of our essential company objectives for 2024. How are you bringing hospitality to your work?

To those that attended one of the first dozen 6sensory Suppers, I need to apologize. I think I delivered a night of reasonable hospitality. What I have learned since, though, is that I should have been delivering a night of unreasonable hospitality. Will Guidara, one of the co-owners of Eleven Madison Park, ranked the #1 restaurant in the world in 2017, wrote my favorite book of the year: Unreasonable Hospitality.
