Baker Hughes in India recently hosted the India Supplier Conference in Pune, focusing on the theme "Energizing the future." Vishal Murgudkar, India's Sourcing Leader, opened the event for 200+ suppliers from diverse industries, highlighting India's remarkable sourcing reach. There has been a 44% increase in the volume sourced from India in the last two years, with projections indicating a substantial 2x growth by 2025, based on the high competitiveness and technical excellence of the suppliers. As India progresses towards becoming one of the world's top three economies, there is immense growth potential. The dedicated sourcing team and committed suppliers aim to leverage this potential by collaborating not only within India but also globally to provide top-notch services and products.
During the conference, our leaders presented Baker Hughes' growth trajectory and future vision, inviting suppliers to be part of this exciting journey. Additionally, attendees were shared a video message from Jim Apostolides, SVP, Enterprise Operational Excellence, who expressed his confidence in India's potential and emphasized the need to strengthen partnerships to achieve mutual goals. This partnership, he emphasized, will continue to drive more sourcing from India, benefiting not just the country but the entire world.
A panel discussion on 'The Role of Responsible Supply Chains' was held, moderated by Mauricio Valadares, with speakers Davide Marrani, Alberto Palazzi, and Stephen Hinson from Baker Hughes. The discussion emphasized sustainability and efficiency in sourcing practices, underlining the company's commitment to responsible supply chain management.
We also had Deepak Mahurkar, Partner at PwC India Advisory, as our guest speaker. He led an engaging discussion on the pivotal role of oil and gas in energizing the future.
At Baker Hughes, we place great value on strong partnerships with our suppliers. Together, we strive to enhance the value chain for our customers through collaboration and agility.
