Hey podcast producers, lemme go on the record to say I don't want you to pitch me straight, cis white men for my podcast. UNLESS they are men doing deep anti-oppression and justice work. Otherwise, please do not send me pitches for them. White men are constantly amplified. Their thoughts, viewpoints, perspectives. There are buildings named in their honor and statues made in their images. They don't need my help. I created the Professional Troublemaker podcast, with the lens of hearing from people who aren't heard from enough. The REAL disruptors of the world. Also, the other lens I use to book my guests is truly: People who I (or somebody I TRUST) am in relationship with already (that makes the conversations go even deeper because we have a comfort). I don't actually take podcast pitches, to be honest. I have such a vast network that I tap in there first and foremost because there are so many people I'm familiar with who I want to hear from. So, I don't really do cold pitches (they will get rejected by my team). And if you see a white dude on my podcast, it's because he's exceptionally justice-minded.
I understand this. I'm in Sales Ops and I asked my VA to go and find me some people in the general sales industry that have podcasts, it was 1 list of the same people - some of which I have enjoyed listening to and learning from, but many I had listened to a few episodes over the years and it just felt like the same story, the same 'go to the golf club' experience. So we've been branching out and I've been enjoying it a lot more, a different vibe, a more rounded connection to whatever topic is on the table. 🎙 💫
I'm just going to put up one of these for future (warm? Hopefully?) consideration! 🤗🙋🏾♀️

💯 aligned with this! I do the same on my pod.
