Our hearts are with the residents of Maui impacted by this week's wildfires. The fires have left thousands of both humans and animals displaced, causing immense distress and creating an urgent need for support. Earth Animal is donating $1,000 to Maui Humane Society's fire rescue efforts as they anticipate an inundation of hundreds of animals who have been burned or lost during the evacuation process and those in need of critical care due to smoke inhalation. The Rotter Kitzretter e.V. is an association that cares deeply about animal welfare and therefore supports farmers and hunters in preventing animal suffering during mowing. I wrote and photographed the book about Punkie, the talking cat, for two reasons: to entertain small kids and to subtly introduce the issue of homeless pets to our next generation. Animal protection groups target adults with their message and donation pledge drives to help remedy the problem of overpopulation of homeless pets in the wild or in shelters. Punkie Speaks is a story to imprint our next generation of children with the values and rewards of adopting homeless animals.
