A great conversation here with a true, one of a kind, expert in efficiency and energy.
Amory Lovins, co-founder and chairman emeritus of RMI, talks about why he thinks we have only scratched the surface of how much efficiency is available and worth buying. He also talks about the importance of integrative design and the role of both speed and drivers in improving efficiency. And he shares how he thinks NACFE has helped the trucking industry and how he views various alternatives to diesel.

One particular stipulation in the new UAW contract has this automotive forecasting expert concerned. "Assembly capacity decisions should be outside the purview of labor, especially during periods of rapid industry transformation," writes Warren Browne, president of RFQ Insights and a former GM executive. "The new #UAW contract stipulates specific product placements in plants, and the right to strike over plant closures during the life of the contract. These capacity constraints could thwart the desire to fill battery-electric vehicle capacity." "The union feels they won by restricting management’s capacity flexibility. The unintended consequences of that win may be severe if the transformation requires a strike at every turn, or if excess structural costs lead to darker scenarios." #electriccars #batteryelectric #bev #automotive International Union, UAW #manufacturing #labormanagement General Motors Stellantis Ford Motor Company #IndustryWeek https://lnkd.in/g37N7UKA
