Responding to market changes lead us to increasing PLŪKT e-commerce presence by 40%. Case: Last year we encountered first signs of independent design boutiques closing one after another. In Australia. For the past 4 years we have built close #relationships with more than 30 stockists around Melbourn area. The reason? 👀For one, chain retail stores now have sections of organic and premium products. According to our partners, they are quality enough to compete with independent stores. Models change. Strategies do, too. We are seeing similar patterns among our North America customers, too. E-commerce allowed us to take the situation under control, in some way, thus increasing presence by 40%. However, countries that lift restrictions could boost the economy and eliminate unfair competitive distortions between stores and e-commerce. Yesterday it was announced that B&M have agreed to rescue up to 51 of the Wilko stores from its administrators for up to £13million! It has been anticipated that, following the administration trading period, these will be rebranded to B&M stores and become part of their estate. We have used our RetailVision Points data in MVPLUS by GMAP to explore the correlation between the existing Wilko and B&M estates to see which locations could be the Wilko stores that B&M are going to take over. From our analysis we found: 👉 93 Wilko locations were more than a 10-minute drive time from the nearest B&M, and therefore this could suggest stores in which B&M may be taking over. These 93 stores are shown in the map below. 👉 29 of these Wilko stores were within the M25, 16 in the South-East, and 10 in the South West. This would help B&M’s growth in these regions, as B&M have previously concentrated their growth to the North, Midlands and Scotland. 114 of B&M's sites are in the North-West, whilst just 26 in London M25. It will be interesting to see which of the Wilko stores will become part of B&M, and whether any other rumoured brands, including HMV, Poundland, Home Bargains or The Range, will help to save more Wilko stores!
