#nationalapprenticeshipweek George, Business Apprentice. During my apprenticeship I have learned and picked up many valuable skills not only for the office, but for day-to-day life. The main skill that this apprenticeship has taught me is the ability to adapt. Due to my apprenticeship involving constant rotations throughout the business I have had to learn to adapt to my new environments. This includes not only in a work sense but in a social sense. These different social environments helped me build confidence when speaking to new people whether colleagues or customers. This confidence also translated into day-to-day situations in my personal life, making it easier to build relationships and improving my self-belief when tackling new tasks. Covering reception helped improve my skills when answering the phone. This not only added to my confidence but also improved my communication skills due to the frequency of calls from a variety of different people. For day 2 of #NationalApprenticeshipWeek, meet Anne-Marie F. , our Transit Custom & Courier Product Manager, who made the savvy decision to join Ford's Higher Apprenticeship Scheme over 25 years ago. 🎓 Why I chose an apprenticeship to kick-start my career: "My reasons for doing an apprenticeship were largely practical; I planned to go to college for A Levels then study for a degree but the idea that I could get an equivalent qualification to A Levels and potentially be sponsored to do a degree without racking up tuition costs, all while earning a wage, was appealing. 👥 Why I chose Ford: "Working for a big company like Ford gave me job security and flexibility, lots of potential options - which was perfect for me as a 16-year-old because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in the future." 👩💻 How the skills I gained at Ford have shaped my long-term career goals: "My apprenticeship gave me a lot of practical skills, including the ability to service my own car and 16th Edition electrical qualifications. Mostly, it gave me a lot of practical engineering skills that helped me to understand the product that I work on today." This #NationalApprenticeWeek, meet Mark, whose apprenticeship with Sabre is being supported by the awesome Derwentside College.   1.     What inspired you to pursue an apprenticeship with Sabre Rail, and what do you hope to achieve during your apprenticeship? An apprenticeship journey with Sabre interested me, particularly because I had not previously worked in the rail sector. My primary goal is to cultivate and refine my skills while striving to attain a valuable qualification, ultimately leading the way for a successful and fulfilling career path. 2.     What skills or knowledge do you think you will gain that you believe will benefit you in your future career? Gaining skills and knowledge in a specialist trade will help me develop my career and focus on building my on-the-job experience in addition to gaining a valuable qualification. 3.     Can you share any goals or aspirations you have for your career after completing your apprenticeship? Once I have completed my apprenticeship, I want to keep advancing in the engineering field, continue to better myself and always give my best. 4.     What advice would you give someone considering a career in the railway industry through an apprenticeship program? Here is a training program for highly qualified technicians ( ir licensed aircraft engineers) who, after obtaining the academic qualifications required to access specific training, have a total of 3 years of theoretical and hands-on training. This is the model to be followed in any area of intermediate or higher level training (there are countries that invest more in the training of theorists like Portugal).

National Apprenticeship Week - tackling the skills deficit in the automotive sector with female role models! 💼🎉 This is my #Myapprenticeshipstory Automotive 30% Club 1. Why did I choose an apprenticeship? Choosing an apprenticeship was an easy decision for me. I saw it as an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience, gain a qualification, and kickstart my career in a field I had no experience in. It's been a fantastic blend of practical knowledge and learning, in a great team of people.📚💼 2. Challenges I Overcame: The road to success is often paved with challenges. One of the biggest hurdles for me was the transition of sectors. Previously working in hospitality and then transferring to office work. Putting myself out of my comfort zone, I have now found a routine and I love it. 3. What I like best about my apprenticeship: The best part about my apprenticeship has been broadening your knowledge and reflecting on the route you have taken. Whether it's the work environment, continuous learning opportunities, or the chance to work on projects, every day has been a stepping stone towards personal and professional growth. 🌱🌐 4. Development and Plans for Progression: Reflecting on my journey so far, I can see significant personal and professional development. Moving forward, I am excited about where my journey with Auto Trader UK will take me. This is not a linear career but more of an opportunity to find my true passion at a great company. 🚀🎯
