Finance and Accounting Expert Analyst at Procter & Gamble | Cost and Revenue Accounting Business Support Specialist

5 years ago today, I started working at the company I’ve been eyeing for so long – Procter and Gamble. It has been my dream company ever since college, although I have to admit that at the time, I never really thought I’d make it here because it’s just too big for me. Back then, I was just your average college girl who’s just surviving and trying to pass and graduate. I studied so hard but there was a time I needed to get a job to continue college and while it’s a necessary decision, it damaged my performance and grades so badly. So, I failed accountancy and got swooped into accounting technology. I quit my job after saving enough to continue college, in hopes of still improving my grades. I did it but not enough, the damage has been done but I graduated. Months after, my Tita asked me if I am already applying for P&G. Deep inside, I already want to try but I’ve no self-esteem and very demotivated coming from college. One morning I just felt this rush to move on from what happened and thought that my decision back then badly hurt my college life but it doesn’t have to affect my life moving forward. So, before applying to P&G, I tried applying to other companies first to build my confidence and practice interviews so I can prepare myself. Yes, I did practice. Hahaha! I told you P&G was big for me. Then, my interview day came. I still felt intimidated but I felt this surreal feeling of “I want this. I’m gonna do my best and get this or try but no, I’ll get this”. During the interview, I didn’t really have the academic experience I can boast but I have something better - I have the passion and these huge learnings from what happened. All I did was be honest and tell them my story. Then I passed, my God I passed. This caption is just so long but If you’re still reading this, all I really want to say is if you want something, go for it! Someone will always be better than you but if it’s meant for you, it’s for you. Just be real with yourself, acknowledge your weaknesses but know your strengths. Cheers to 5 years, P&G. Forever grateful! #PGEmp #ProudlyPG PS. Editing this to add that I also got promoted to Senior last year!! 🤍💙

Agreed 💯. Most of the time we get too much hesitant on pursuing things we truly love because we're not in our best self yet. I can totally relate tonthis story and my key takeaway from that experience is to just seize every opportunity that goes along the way and always believe on God's plan for you.

We share almost the same story of needing to be a working student, not making it into accountancy. I shifted to management accounting instead. As a graduating student I am really feeling tensed and nervous on what lies ahead of me. Thank you so much Ms. Mary, you inspired me 🥺💞
