Both training and experience are important factors for security personnel working in service to their community as armed guards. We are fortunate that many of our security personnel come to us with past military experience well-prepared for anything. If you have police or military experience, consider applying to Covey Security. #tucson #tucsonsecurity #security #phoenix #securityguard #securityservices #phoenixsecurity #scottsdalesecurity #armedguard

Not 100% accurate, but enough to definitely show a good break down. Also, LEO’s have the duty to leave their assigned location if there’s an incident near them that requires immediate backup. Therefore, client is now paying someone 2-3 times as much…and they’re not even there any more. I think the background experience is important. Having knowledge/experience of security with a prior law enforcement background…that warrants the higher pay. Then you add, Military, management, etc experiences on top of that. Pay people their worth and they’ll never let you down.
$45 hourly & up should be the pay for experienced armed security officers

What happens when someone becomes hostile towards you? What should you do when someone physically hits you while on your shift? This security guard showed great restraint. By being calm and remaining professional, the security guard de-escalated the situation and didn't cause further trouble for himself. Depending on the situation, if you, as a security guard, are being physically assaulted, you have every right to detain the person and protect yourself. Use your own discretion and remember to use REASONABLE FORCE. #securityguard #assault #reasonableforce #deescalation

Security services are essential for maintaining safety in various environments, from commercial buildings and residential areas to events and public spaces. Here's an overview of unarmed and armed security services and what they offer: Unarmed security guards carry non-lethal tools like batons, pepper spray, and handcuffs. Roles and Responsibilities: • Surveillance and Patrolling: Monitor premises to prevent unauthorized access, vandalism, and security breaches. • Access Control: Manage entry and exit points, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter. • Customer Service: Assist visitors with directions and information, enhancing the customer experience. • Incident Reporting: Document and report unusual or suspicious activities to authorities. • Emergency Response: Respond to alarms and emergencies, provide first aid if necessary, and coordinate with emergency services. Some Armed Security Officer Roles and Responsibilities: • High-Risk Protection: Protect individuals and assets in high-risk environments. • Immediate Threat Response: Neutralize threats and provide a higher level of security against armed intruders. • Transport Security: Ensure the safe transport of valuable goods, money, and sensitive information. • Access Control: Similar to unarmed guards but with a higher level of scrutiny and readiness to respond to armed threats. • Deterrence: The presence of armed guards can deter criminal activities due to the potential threat of an armed response. Threat Level: Assess the potential risks and threat levels in your environment. • Budget: Armed security services typically cost more due to additional training and licensing requirements. • Nature of Business: The type of business or event will influence security needs. • High-risk areas may require armed guards, while low-risk areas may be served by unarmed guards. • Public Perception: Armed guards can create a sense of heightened security but may also cause discomfort among the public or customers. Both unarmed and armed security services offer vital protection, catering to different needs and situations. By understanding their roles and evaluating your specific requirements, you can make an informed decision to ensure the safety and security of your premises, assets, and people. Director of Security | Security Manager | I excel in managing access control, orchestrating security responses, minimizing alarms, investigating incidents, and developing proactive strategies based on data.
Having trouble letting go of your past Military or Law enforcement life? Consider the following: When I stepped into the role of Security Captain at SeaWorld San Diego, I brought with me a wealth of experience from previous positions. My goal was clear: to use past wins and lessons learned from setbacks to improve our organization, streamline processes, and proactively address potential issues. However, one of my most significant challenges came early on and served as a crucial learning point in my journey. Shortly after I started, a sergeant and I uncovered potential timesheet fraud. With our access to the necessary software, we downloaded the video evidence and sent it to our internal investigations team. To our surprise, our director, a man of great integrity but influenced by his undying love for his law enforcement background, reacted with intense disapproval. He believed firmly in a strict separation between investigations and security operations, a perspective rooted in his past experiences. This incident was baffling and disheartening. Here we were, trying to protect the organization and uphold our responsibilities, yet our actions were met with ire instead of appreciation. The director's response created a rift between the investigations team and the security guard force, eroding the trust and collaboration we needed to function effectively. Reflecting on this incident over time, I came to understand the director's perspective. His law enforcement background shaped his belief in maintaining distinct boundaries between different operational units. However, his inability to adapt this mindset to our security environment highlighted a critical lesson for me: while it's essential to leverage past experiences, it's equally important to avoid bringing old loyalties and rigid frameworks into new contexts. From this experience, I learned the importance of clear communication and understanding different perspectives within an organization. I took ownership of the situation, explained our intentions, and ensured it didn't recur. This incident underscored the necessity of fostering a culture of mutual respect and collaboration, where every team member feels valued and trusted. #securitymanagement #police #military #transition
