Hiring pre-sales professionals with a background in solving enterprise data challenges & positioning business value
It’s always great to hear about home-grown research innovations in our sector, especially as AI increasingly becomes part-and-parcel of our everyday lives, it’s up to producers to ensure that the public trusts in new products. That’s exactly why this BBC News article caught my eye. To summarise, the University of York is establishing a new institute that will allow enterprises to research, test, and experiment with AI in a purpose-built space. The overall goal here is to highlight the positive impact that AI can have on our lives. So, in other words: investing in research and development doesn’t just drive progress, revenue, and innovation, it also encourages confidence in AI-enabled products. Will other unis follow suit? As always, keen to hear what others make of this news. https://lnkd.in/eVknTjpU #AI #ResearchandDevelopment #Tech #Innovation

Bias is inherent in both humans and AI models. Consider autonomous driving: AI models excel at detecting pedestrians due to abundant training data but struggle with uncommon road hazards like tigers, leading to biased predictions and reduced performance. To tackle this challenge, we introduce Inverse Image Frequency (IIF), a novel de-biasing method. IIF adjusts the logits in the convolutional neural network's classification layer through a multiplicative margin transformation. Our approach outperforms other SOTA methods and is particularly valuable for tasks like long-tailed instance segmentation by reducing false positives. Get an early look at our paper, accepted in IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, for our latest findings on the Inverse Image Frequency method. Innovative Engineering + AI Voice Engineering students learned about an innovative vehicle that goes directly downwind faster than the wind powered only by the wind. The vehicle was designed in the USA several years ago and there is an interesting video(https://lnkd.in/geXCQiNK) by the YouTube channel Veritasium explaining how the vehicle can do this. In the video presentation about the vehicle, students combined their own voices(the questions) with AI generated voices(the answers).
