As we conclude National Safety Month this June, we reflect on the vital importance of maintaining safety in our workplaces and daily routines. At MedAire, our dedication to fostering a culture of safety within the aviation industry is unwavering. Highlighting our Hangar Safety Awareness programme, we emphasise the need for comprehensive training to identify hazards and implement steps to mitigate the risks associated with hangar incidents. This training goes beyond prevention, providing essential knowledge for an effective initial response to hangar-specific medical incidents. By prioritising hangar safety, we can ensure that our workspaces are not only more secure but also prepared to handle emergencies effectively. Invest in safety with MedAire’s Hangar Safety Awareness training and make your hangar a safer place to work. Head of Environment, Health and Safety at Lustica Development ad, subsidiary of Swiss Orascom Development Holding AG
GALIOT Aero offers an aviation safety occurrence report tool as an integrated module based on the ECCAIRS format and ADREP taxonomy. In addition, they developed the Galiot Mobile App for offline safety reporting. Airport operators find useful GALIOT ADR software, but also aircraft operators, maintenance organizations, and ground handlers. The proper implementation of performance-based SMS should include a comprehensive safety data collection and processing system, safety data analysis, and the definition of a safety performance indicator. #icao #easa #eurocontrol #AOC #safety #safetyreport #safetymanagement #occurrence #riskanalysis #safetyculture #justculture

As humans, its our nature to be reminded time and time again. Thats why we have recurrent trainings annually. In Aviation, the basis of our operation is safety. As an aviator, or just in your normal day to day operations, are you able to identify a hazard? Reminder: A hazard is any activity or object which can potentially cause harm to personel, equipment or even environment. Below are the five easy ways to do so. ~ Collect existing information about workplace hazards. ~Inspect the workplace for safety and health hazards. ~Identify health-related hazards. ~Conduct incident investigations. ~Identify hazards associated with emergency situations. #BeSafe #ThinkSafety #ActSafely. #SafetyIsOurResponsibility.

How are we doing on safety? Are there new risks emerging in air transport? Let’s have a look at the #EASA Annual Safety Review!
The EASA Annual Safety Review 2023 is now online. The report provides an analysis of accidents, serious incidents and other occurrences, using ICAO Annex 13 definitions. Last year, the world, and air transport, began its journey to recovery after the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. As we publish this year’s safety review in the summer of 2023, traffic levels are at around 93% of the pre-pandemic levels seen in 2019. This resurgence is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the aviation industry, and underlines that citizens still have a strong desire to travel by air, which remains the safest form of transport. In terms of safety performance, for almost all domains, the number of fatal accidents and fatalities in 2023 was close to the minimum of the preceding decade. The exceptions to this are in commercial helicopter operations and in sailplane operations. Further reading and analysis are in the dedicated highlights and key fact page and of course in the report and its specialized appendices. With this, I would also like to express my warmest thanks to all the authors in my team and beyond for their hard work in bringing this edition to fruition: Martin Bernandersson, Ceca Svetlana Bunjevac, Aigars Krastins, Emilie MARCHAIS, Florent Morel, Renée Pelchen-Medwed, and Yngvi Yngvason. Kudos also for Nicola Balzano, John Franklin MBE FRANKLIN and Ross INWOOD for their continuous support for the production and promotion of the ASR. https://lnkd.in/dQm-yqh6

I can’t help but wonder how many other European airlines are not properly managing Health & Safety risk. Certain hazards affect human performance and as such, are a risk to Flight Safety. These same hazards can also affect our health, and in this context are an Occupational Health & Safety concern. This creates an oversight overlap. How many national health & safety authorities are assuming that the oversight is being provided by the national aviation authority, and vice-versa? And rather than having a regulatory overlap, is it possible that in some jurisdictions we have a regulatory gap? I believe it’s highly likely.
