Ok so hear me out… Like Michelin stars for restaurants, we implement Arete stars for healthcare institutions. Arete is a Greek word that refers to excellence. 1 Arete star ⭐️ indicates superior patient care, meaning over 90% of patients would rate the care experience as excellent. 2 Arete stars ⭐️⭐️indicate superior patient care AND superior culture for physicians and other clinical staff. This status requires meeting the above PLUS over 90% of physicians and other clinical staff rate the working environment and culture as excellent. 3 Arete stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️indicate superior patient care, physician and clinical staff culture, AND patient outcomes. 1 and 2 must be met PLUS the institution must be in the top 5% of clinical outcome results in the US. There’s no ability to ‘pay to play.’ Stars are only earned and must be re-earned each year. Implement this and watch change being made as patients are given the opportunity to choose their care by Arete star rating ✨

So, my current EMS DPH Region is coming together to create a local EMS conference. We are just in the preplanning stages. I want this to prosper as much as the MetroAtlanta EMS conference has, as well as SwampRabbitt in South Carolina. We have such a plethora of great things for travelers to do off-site that it could be the next thing in EMS. So I would like to see what you all would like to see in a prehospital specialty conference? What classes or speakers would you like to see? What are some cost associations that you could see as reasonable? What are some food options? What are some ideas that you would like to see a panel discussion on? How many days should this conference be?

Proud of National University Health System and the entire #community of people that made #health a possibility for all! Our sister Singapore General Hospital is #4. All India Institute of Medical Sciences is #3. Singapore and India are the only 2 Asian countries in the top 10 which is dominated by USA. Approximately only 10% of our health is determined by the quality of healthcare. A healthcare system that (a) partners closely with various other sectors to address the #social, #behavioural, and #environmental determinants of health (60%) and (b) is able to harness the power of genetics (30%), can then truly be #transformational to health of the population. Singapore’s recognition as a #bluezone is probably a good indication of how the #complexsystems that produces health has been working pretty well. For instance, the Housing & Development Board housing story is a shining example of how the quality of housing is correlated with the quality of health: https://lnkd.in/gKgkJqsc. No coincidence! As is commonly said, don’t rest on your laurels. We at National University Health System still have lots to improve on. That’s why we even bother to have a “Transformation Office” and all the more we need to work together (no silos, only collaborations) for the health of our people. Onwards and upwards!
