Last week I posted about a fun 1-2 hour coding challenge I did with my husband, here is a little blog to go with that post. 👩💻 https://lnkd.in/etVuktUk

What happens when you and your husband are Software Engineers and also enjoy a little healthy competition? You turn work into play! We recently found a fun way to stay fresh and learn all while trying to quickly implement a functioning product. How? We choose a public API, set a timer for 1-2 hours, and get to work! When the timer goes off, we share our app and code, then discuss any challenges we ran into & what we would do differently next time. It's also been really cool to see how differently we interpret the data/challenge. For our first attempt, we used RSP-101 API and created a Rock, Paper, Scissors game. I went the player vs. the computer route and Bill Story created a player vs. player game. Try it out with a colleague or friend and see what you can build in just a few hours! #SoftwareEngineers #HealthyCompetition #PublicAPI #CodingChallenge

When I first transitioned from designer to software engineer, this was such a foreign (and refreshing) concept 😅

As I wrap up my Flatiron School Software Engineering Bootcamp experience, I ran across my very first technical blog post, posted almost exactly a year ago. Back when I had just finished my very first 100% vanilla JavaScript app and before I even knew what React was 😰 It is surreal to think about how far I've come in my coding journey over the last year–from building a single-page app using event listeners & grabbing DOM elements to creating full-stack React/Ruby on Rails apps. Mind blowing! https://lnkd.in/eUTyjEhG

It's wild thinking about where I was just 9 months ago. 9 months ago I quit my job and dove head first into the Flatiron School's Software Engineering Bootcamp with very little coding experience under my belt. It's exciting and somewhat surreal to be writing this post and to be able to say 'look what I've accomplished' in just 9 short months. This is my 4th project of my Flatiron experience. I built both the frontend (React) and back (Ruby on Rails) for this project. While I came into the coding world with little experience, it's been fun incorporating my previous design experience into all of my projects. Next up, capstone project! https://lnkd.in/gFwrgy5x
