Scientific Proof That Your Stress is Useful  to Your Health, Wellness, Work and Relationships. Stress is a normal reaction (millions of years old) when a person feels scared for any reason at all; from a deadline at work to a saber tooth tiger.  In fact,  these 2 cause the same reactions in your: Brain: expect a flooding of cortisol any time you are stressed as this triggers fear as if you are facing a great big saber tooth tiger! Heart: blood vessels get smaller and it’s harder to pump blood and can lead to stress eating as well as a build up of plaque on your artery walls. A few years ago, a University of California research team reported that feeling stressed causes a shortening of telomeres that may cause serious ailments from cancer to heart disease. The American Psychological Association in a recent annual review found that nearly half of people reported their stress as “extreme”  and that their stress had gone up in the last year. People agree that feeling stressed has a negative impact on their life.  Few people understand the impact of stress on their physical health.  VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: stress causes physical and emotional problems.  Everything you feel emotionally, you also feel physically. I've been listening to several podcasts and Andrew Huberman 's is an excellent one to tie neuroscience to learning efforts. An unintended takeaway from the podcast is the notion of what a true expert is. Someone who knows the literature and applies new insights through science BUT most importantly, that person's ability to say "I don't know". This happens occasionally when Andrew would ask a question outside of that person's scope of research. I don't find that with LnD experts, I find that they usually pretend to know it all and never admit not knowing enough.
