🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 Billie Thompson, one of our wonderful MHS team members working at the Gibson Cancer Center, witnessed an elderly gentlemen and his son calling for help from their home adjacent to the Center. A fire had started and neither the gentlemen or his family could contain it. Without a moments notice Billie jumped a ditch and fence to help them put out the fire before their home was consumed by the blaze. She was able to get the fire out and comfort the family until the fire department and police arrived. Billie is not only a Hometown Hero but also a role model for all MHS employees and the true spirit of the service we provide. Well done Billie! Your MHS family is very proud of you and we thank you!🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

On March 11th, 2024 my beloved twin brother, Kenneth Bennett, passed away after a six year battle with ocular melanoma, a very rare and lethal cancer that afflicts few people, only 5 in a million. There are no cures yet. Unlike other major cancers, the dearth of patients makes finding treatments uneconomical for most drug and medical science companies to fund. The market is just not big enough. So research into this deadly disease requires the help of charitable people. Below is a link to his tribute page at the Ocular Melanoma Foundation website, where you can learn more about ocular melanoma, and if your are so inclined, to donate to a very worthy cause. https://lnkd.in/g_sPJJXv

This gentleman has been battling esophageal cancer for 7 years currently! The chances of living beyond 5yrs from diagnosis is very low. Esophageal cancer has an extremely HIGH mortality rate (80%) within 5 years of diagnosis! It is a very brutal cancer and and can be extremely aggressive while making quality of life very poor. Esophageal cancer also happens to have a precursor of disease called Barrett’s Esophagus. The precursor to Barrett’s esophagus is acid-reflux. #EsoGuard is a quick, in-office test, that allows for individuals at risk to be screened and hopefully prevent heartache. If you, or someone you know, has acid-reflux, make sure to speak with a physician to prevent possible disease development! As someone who has benefited from early detection, reading articles like this makes me very grateful for medical technology & screenings! #CheckYourFoodtube #EarlyDetection #ScreeningSavesLives #EarlyDetectionSavesLives Lucid Diagnostics PAVmed Inc.

For everyone who has been asking about Jay Williams, here's the latest update directly from him and his family: https://lnkd.in/gWhVFE3K A couple of thoughts on showing for people we care about during challenging times (specifically as it relates to cancer) in both word and deed-- How we talk about cancer matters. The language we use can help us to understand and cope with this disease that impacts the lives of so many. It can also help us to connect directly with those who are going through it in a way that centers their needs to maximize health and well being. Cancer is a diagnosis that changes everything. It's a time of fear, uncertainty, and hope. It's a time of ups and downs, of progress and setbacks. It's a time of love, support and strength. Some people talk about cancer as a journey. This can be a helpful way to frame the experience, as it can help us to see cancer as a process with a beginning, middle, and end. It can also help us to focus on the progress we're making, even when it's slow. Other approach it as a battle. This can also be a useful way to look at things, as it can help us to see cancer as something that we can fight. It can also help us to find the strength to keep going, even when things are tough. We all know Jay is a fighter. For him and his family, this is a battle AND a journey. So far it's been filled with good days and bad days, steps forward and back. If you haven't known how to talk to him about what he's dealing with, just reach out to let him know you're keeping him in your hearts. Your words matter. Your support matters. As he navigates the coming months and the challenges that lie ahead, each of you are among his greatest sources of strength. No matter how we talk about cancer, it's important to remember that we're not alone. There are millions of people around the world who are going through the same thing. We can support each other through this journey, and we can help each other to find hope. Please continue to amplify his GoFundMe campaign (https://lnkd.in/gzyyXH64), send love forward and find your own way to connect. We appreciate you. With love and gratitude, #TeamJay
