(ft long, pragmatic rant of what's happening in Palestine from a traditional media-renounced practitioner) As a Muslim Travel Media, we have a duty to CHAMPION Muslim businesses, and promote destinations that are in alignment with our values, our safety, our privacy as #MuslimahSoloTravelers. My heart goes out to Palestine.. without a doubt. As a Muslim, my capabilities are via Muslim Solo Travel and fostering of peace and unity. Especially if they help another Muslim to earn a living and travel comfortably solo (two or 360 ways). As a Malaysian, my capabilities are, to an extent, limited to the Government. Special thanks to our PMX Anwar Ibrahim for establishing a SPECIAL Palestine FUND, with a DEDICATED Chartered Flight to Al Arish, monitored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as our emotional support to our Ummah there. To our leaders, Dr M & KJ, thank you for voicing out your voice on what's happening recently. The voice of leaders says a lot and is a representative of the community. As someone who grew up, career-wise, in the media, the media only has power to a certain extent. State-owned media vs independent media are different ballgame (I can go on and on about this). The media's mandate is to REPORT. Report is Awareness level. Beyond that, is action. Action, can be from the mass, but ultimately lies to the Gs. They have the power to checkmate, veto, 80/20, or whatever. We've seen this in the recent UN meeting. Coming back to travel (something within my capabilities and power - we all have unique powers, & that goes to you too), let's put on a renewed mindset upon travel from now on. Support Muslim businesses related to travel, because when you do, you elevate the community, you have close ties to the people there, and that way, you can "help and FEEL EMPOWERED in your capabilities". That is, a form of dawah too.
