Last week, I had the honor of joining RTI and El Futuro staff in celebrating 7+ years of partnership, financial support, and collaboration. El Futuro is a non-profit organization that has over 20 years of providing comprehensive mental health services for Latino families in a bilingual environment of healing and hope. North Carolina's Latino population has grown exponentially in the past decade, with an increased need for bilingual and culturally responsive health services. As Dr. Luke Smith, psychiatrist and Executive Director of El Futuro says, "Making mental health care accessible for Latino families improves their quality of life and helps people get back to their dreams for the future that brought them to our community in the first place." RTI is a nonprofit research institute with the mission statement dedicated to improving the human condition. As a Latina woman, I am proud to be a part of supporting underserved populations, especially one where my own culture shines through. Thank you Lissette Saavedra for inviting me! I look forward to working with you and El Futuro on our project to improve mental health, behavioral and academic outcomes for Latino children and youth with ADHD. Lastly, big thank you to RTI's CEO Tim Gabel for joining us on this special day and showing continued support for this cause.
Go Midori! This is incredibly important work that's needed for families all across North Carolina
