NEW: Check out my latest op-ed, now available on Inside Sources, on API - American Petroleum Institute's Five-Point Policy Roadmap to leverage America’s abundant natural #gas and #oil resources to help address inflation. As Americans tune in to watch tomorrow’s presidential debate, they should be looking for both candidates to actively work to rein in out-of-control costs and bolster U.S. energy leadership in a turbulent world. By defending consumer freedoms, restoring our geopolitical strength, maintaining access to energy resources, fixing the broken permitting system, and advancing pro-investment tax policies, we can help families and businesses reeling from years of inflation. Let’s work together to ensure that steady, affordable supplies of American natural gas and oil resources will be available for decades to come. More here:

Americans are largely pro oil and natural gas: Ipsos and API - American Petroleum Institute conducted a national poll of 1,100+ bipartisan, registered voters and found results such as: • 89% believe the United States should continue to supply natural gas to our European allies and other countries to help bolster our economy and strengthen our national security. • 86% believe producing oil and natural gas here in America helps make our country more secure against actions by countries such as China and Russia. • 83% support permitting reform to streamline and speed up the federal government’s process for approving energy infrastructure projects in the U.S. • 87% support the U.S. increasing its own domestic sources of oil and natural gas rather than relying on other regions in the world. https://lnkd.in/eV7f97Ku #LNG #energy #oil #petroleum #economy #oilandgas #natgas #txenergy #naturalgas #permian #oilindustry

API’s new Five-Point Policy Roadmap is a plan to help reduce inflation and bolster America’s energy leadership role. In a new op-ed, API President and CEO Mike Sommers explains key actions that Americans should be looking for during tomorrow’s presidential debate. The API roadmap contains commonsense steps that all Washington policymakers can take to protect America’s energy advantage. For example, instead of enforcing strict mandates to completely switch energy sources, we should protect consumers and ensure our abundant oil and natural gas resources are reliable and affordable. https://lnkd.in/gGMTnRuT

Heightened global tensions remind us why it’s important to have a strong energy sector. To increase our energy security, we need the policies in place from the administration that enable us to boost production and cut costs for consumers. Thankfully, American energy can serve as a stabilizing force both globally and right here in America – that is if we get the policy right. Currently, the administration is putting restrictions on public lands and waters. A weak five-year lease plan and delayed lease sales can stifle future production, putting our future energy supply at risk. In fact, they’ve canceled more acreage for natural gas and oil leases in Alaska than they’ve leased on federal lands nationwide. And 2024 will be the first year without an offshore lease sale since 1966. We should learn from the lessons of the 1973 oil embargo that was partially spurred on by bad government policy. API President and CEO Mike Sommers joined Fox Business Network and broke down the global energy landscape and the challenges American producers face in fueling our future:

Pennsylvania is a proud energy-producing state that has long seen the benefits of natural gas and oil for economic development. Leaders in Washington should follow the Keystone State’s lead and bolster America’s energy future. Punitive policies from the White House like the U.S. LNG permit freeze are hindering our energy advantage. Read more about the impacts of these misguided federal policies on Pennsylvania in my recent letter to the editor of PennLive: https://bit.ly/3UFntci

Mixed messages and finger pointing aren’t going to move the American energy sector forward. Unfortunately, comments last week from U.S. Secretary of Energy Secretary Granholm ran counter to the actions that the administration took to hinder producers. Secretary Granholm described a “volatile environment” for American energy users, adding that administration officials “have deep concern about trajectories of where things are headed” when it comes to consumer costs. Just two days earlier, Secretary Granholm’s colleagues in the Biden administration imposed new restrictions that would hamper U.S. energy production. The new measures mirrored two years of hostile policies aimed at millions of American oil and natural gas workers. The administration is planning to add roughly $2 billion in new fees to be levied onto producers and use the courts to push an anti-industry agenda. Estimates of the fees incurred by energy companies hover around $1.8 billion and could rise again. Privately alongside the Sierra Club, the EPA negotiated a settlement that complicates companies’ ability to drill in the Gulf of Mexico. U.S. energy leadership is more important now than ever. In addition to ensuring energy security in the U.S., American energy saves consumers money and contributes trillions the U.S. economy. If America doesn’t take the initiative in stepping up to meet global demand, another country who doesn’t produce energy as clean as we do will. The administration has made repeated calls for more production that would help balance out global cuts and could lower costs for the American consumer. This clashes with the heavy restrictions they’ve put on natural gas and oil producers that have made leasing, drilling, and permitting more difficult. American energy produces need clear direction from this administration, which has shown a desire to stifle the industry at every turn.

There is no doubt that the majority of Americans support Energy Independence and a robust and healthy industry; Renewables and Alternate Energy Sources will become more cost effective but Hydrocarbons will continue to be the primary source for Energy. Hydrogen Fusion could be the future but experts say not until 2050 - 2060.

American Oil and Gas Is Clean Energy: In recent months, gasoline prices have been soaring, causing financial hardship for many Americans. Some have blamed this on the war in Ukraine. Still, a closer look reveals that President Biden's anti-energy policies also play a significant role. Biden has recently placed a moratorium on new oil and gas leases on federal lands, and the Institute for Energy Research has penned an article outlining over 150 ways this administration has made it challenging to produce #FossilFuels. These policies have led to higher prices at the pump. In addition to hurting consumers, limiting oil and gas drilling is also bad for the economy. The oil and gas industry is a significant employer in the United States, generating billions of dollars in tax revenue. When the industry is stifled, it hurts jobs and the economy as a whole. Additionally, less expensive energy has an effect on EVERYTHING. It makes literally everything less expensive when power is less costly. Finally, limiting oil and gas drilling is also bad for the environment. Oil and gas production can negatively impact air quality and water resources. However, it can also be a clean and efficient energy source when done responsibly. American oil and gas is the cleanest fossil fuel in the world. We have some of the strictest environmental regulations in the world for oil and gas production, and we use the latest technologies to reduce emissions. As a result, American oil and gas can be produced in a way that is safe and environmentally responsible, and it can help meet our energy needs while protecting our environment. In addition to being clean, American energy is also affordable and reliable. The United States is the world's largest oil and gas producer, and we have the resources to meet our energy needs for decades. This means that we are independent of foreign oil, which can help to protect our national security. It is important to remember that oil and gas will continue to play a significant role in our energy mix for the foreseeable future. However, we can produce oil and gas in a way that is clean and sustainable. American energy is pure energy, which is the key to our energy independence and economic prosperity. I urge you to support American energy production. Tell your elected officials you support clean, affordable, and reliable American energy. Let's stand up for our energy independence and protect our economy and environment. #Midstream #OilandGas #NaturalGas #EnergyStrong Energy Strong
