Just wrapped up an inspiring team meeting at Garmst! Our newest member, Andrea Fioretti, challenged us to summarise our entire brand in just TWO WORDS. Turns out, it's harder than it sounds! But the exercise, combined with recent user research insights, sparked amazing conversations about how our product makes customers feel and what our core value proposition truly is. Some of the suggestions thrown around included: -Limitless Style -Tailored Variety -Unlocking Confidence We'll be using this to refine our brand messaging and craft the perfect strapline that captures the essence of what we're trying to achieve at Garmst. As I mark my four-year anniversary as the Public Relations Officer at Unicomer (Trinidad) Ltd, I find myself reflecting on a journey that's been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. When I started, I was told this role was self-sufficient, directly reporting to the executive team. It was a clear message about the critical nature of my position, emphasizing the importance of my input in decisions impacting our stakeholders. The journey began with an intense screening process, including four interviews over four months. It was a testament to the value Unicomer places on tactful communication. Managing PR single-handedly for major brands like Courts, Courts Optical, RadioShack, and Ashley Furniture HomeStore has been a monumental task, but it's one that I've embraced with passion and dedication. This role has taught me that success lies not in perfection but in practicality and approach. It's about putting the company first, removing self from the equation, and being an effective ambassador for our brands. I'm grateful for the understanding and support from the Siman family and the local executives, who have nurtured my growth and encouraged my entrepreneurial ventures. The flexibility and respect for my external consulting work have been invaluable. As I look back, I am humbled by the growth and confidence I've gained professionally. As the first Talent Partner hire at HowNow, one of my main focusses coming in, alongside making a number of key hires, was to enhance our Employer Brand. I was really fortunate to be joining an already people-centric business, with a Head of People already in the business (a luxury that not all start-ups have!). This meant we already had a really good culture, benefits, and processes (thanks to Pauline Taylor (MCIPD)), but we weren't doing enough to shout about it. Step one of improving our Employer Brand, was to really understand what our EVP was - we took a data driven approach, speaking to and surveying our Employees (thanks to Flexa's anon survey who helped us with this). Too often it's easy to assume the reasons why your Employees work for you, rather than actually asking and finding out, which can lead to getting it wrong. Step two was then ensuring that the key pillars of our EVP became present at every touch-point of the process for candidates. It's still early days, but we've began our roll-out through a career site refresh. This included supporting with the storytelling, filming and editing of a video of our employees discussing their reasons for working at HowNow (Talent Partner's wearing many hats again! 🎩) Really pleased to bring the finished video together - with lots more updates to our Employer Brand to come!
