2035 Data Engineer: Where Have All the Specialists Gone? Let's Predict and Test it with cross folds... Remember the days of separate front-end, back-end, and data engineers? Those quaint specialists are extinct in 2035, folks. Welcome to the age of the Full-Stack Data Engineer ! Here's some ideas better include to land that coveted data gig: Telepathic Data Wrangling: You cannot only code in Python and build pipelines, but you can also sniff out bad data by holding your hand over the server (don't worry, it's a metaphor... mostly). Psychic Debugging: Error messages are a thing of the past. You just have to "feel" the problem in the Force... of the data, that is. Interdimensional Data Visualization: Dashboards are so 2023. We're talking full-on VR experiences that let you swim through your data like a digital dolphin. ☕️ (coffee not included) Mind-Reading Machine Learning: Forget algorithms and training sets. These models just straight-up learn from your thoughts. Hope you weren't thinking anything embarrassing about your boss... Interstellar Data Governance: Regulations don't stop at the atmosphere anymore. Get ready to wrangle data privacy across the cosmos! Just kidding (mostly). But the full-stack data engineer role is definitely evolving. #DataEngineering #FullStack #FutureOfWork

#hiring Sr. Software Engineer, Data Foundation Platform, Atlanta, United States, fulltime #jobs #jobseekers #careers #Atlantajobs #Georgiajobs #ITCommunications Apply: https://lnkd.in/dP_2ChuN Job Description Block's Data Foundations group builds and maintains a data platform that enables customers to publish, aggregate and orchestrate low-latency data at scale from across Block's distributed ecosystem. Our job is to make it easy for data producers to integrate data into the platform and for data consumers to use it once it's there. Our goal is to allow data users to spend less time on infrastructure so that they can spend more time delivering business value. Within that group, the Data Aggregation Platform team builds systems that aggregate data from all over the company together into shared data processing systems like Databricks and Block's Machine Learning Platform. To accomplish this goal, we're building a scalable streaming data ingestion system that enables publishers from all over the company to send their data into our systems, configure where it should go, and define transformations on top of it. At the same time, we're building infrastructure on top of Databricks to enable Machine Learning Engineers and Analysts to start working with batch and streaming data with minimal setup. We sit in a unique spot as a platform team since we are able to work with data scientists, engineers, and product managers from across the organization. We learn directly from our customers and build software that improves their productivity and impact. We're looking for engineers to help us continue building out Block's data platform. You will: Build tools and systems that make data scientists and machine learning engineers happier and more productive Build highly scalable, distributed, cloud-based streaming systems capable of handling the scale of all of Block's data Work closely with product, data science, and engineering teams throughout the organization to understand their needs and solve their problems Lead architectural and design discussions, ensuring our platform is performant, fault tolerant, and maintainable Mentor your teammates and assist engineers on other teams who integrate with our platform

You know, I was recently asked a fascinating question: "What's the difference between a software developer and a data engineer?" At first glance, it might seem like comparing apples to oranges, but in reality, they're more like two sides of the same coin. Let me explain. Both roles involve writing code, solving problems, and building solutions. A software developer focuses on creating applications or systems that people interact with directly. Think of your favorite mobile apps or websites; software developers are the magicians behind them. On the other hand, a data engineer is also a coder but with a specific focus on handling data. They design, build, and manage data pipelines, ensuring that data is collected, stored, and processed efficiently. You could say they're the unsung heroes making sure that data flows seamlessly behind the scenes. So, if the skills and coding languages used are similar, what sets them apart? It's mostly the context and the problems they tackle. A software developer might be concerned with user experience, interface design, and application functionality. In contrast, a data engineer dives deep into data architecture, database design, and data processing algorithms. But here's the twist: in today's tech landscape, these roles are becoming increasingly blurred. With the rise of data-driven applications and the importance of data analytics, software developers are often required to have some data engineering skills, and vice versa. In conclusion, while the titles may differ and the contexts may vary, a software developer and a data engineer are more alike than they are different. They both harness the power of code to solve problems; they just do it in slightly different arenas. #SoftwareDeveloper #DataEngineer #TechRoles #CodingLife #DataPipeline #SoftwareDevelopment #DataArchitecture #TechIndustry #DataDriven #ProblemSolving

Data Engineering ≠ Data Science ≠ Software Engineering 👨💻👩🔬 Many companies make the mistake of misaligning roles. 👨🏫 Data engineers writing REST APIs, data scientists building pipelines, and software engineers building models. Hire specialists for their specific skills. Don't force them into inefficient generalist roles! Hit the 🔔 on my profile John K. Moran and share your thoughts in the comments.👇 #dataengineering #softwareengineering #datascience
