4K, HOW GOOD!
After being a 4K snob for a couple of months, I have two observations.
👏 Firsty, the increased quality is a step change and bravo to Foxtel Group for investing in it.
🪧Secondly, stadium and track signage has never been so clear! To the point where LED signage at a ground is almost like a permanent squeeze back at the top of the screen (including animations).
Previously stadium signage like this at the MCG would have have had limited reach, focussed on those attending a sporting event.
It poses a couple of important questions:
- Does 4K yield additional media value for stadium signage? I’d take a punt it does.
- If so, should teams and rights holder who own that signage, reimburse broadcasters for some of that additional value, thus covering the increased cost of 4K?
All in all 4K should provide a net positive for fans, sports and advertisers. What are your thoughts? 💭
