The National Day of Service and Remembrance is a day dedicated to remembering the tragic events that occurred on September 11th, 2001 and honoring the individuals who lost their lives that day. This day is also an opportunity for individuals to volunteer and participate in service projects that benefit their community. The National Day of Service and Remembrance was established in 2009 by the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act. It is observed on September 11th each year, which is now recognized as a National Day of Service and Remembrance under federal law. On this day, people come together to participate in a variety of service projects, such as cleaning up local parks, organizing food drives, and assisting with community events. These projects not only benefit the community, but also serve as a way to honor those who lost their lives on September 11th by continuing their legacy of service. In addition to service projects, many communities hold remembrance ceremonies to pay tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attacks. These ceremonies often include moments of silence, prayer services, and the reading of the names of those who lost their lives. Overall, the National Day of Service and Remembrance is a day to come together as a community, remember those who were lost, and honor their memory through acts of service and kindness. Community service is a reflection of our shared responsibility towards the well-being and prosperity of the neighborhoods we call home. It's a selfless act that transcends personal interests, aiming to uplift the collective spirit of our community. When individuals come together, remarkable things happen. Through community service, we forge connections, break down barriers, and build bridges of understanding. It's a reminder that we are all part of something greater than ourselves. There's a unique sense of fulfillment that comes from knowing that i made a difference in someone's life, not only by designing the flyer for this program organized by my fellowship RCF LASU Epe but also participate in it. Spread the word: raise awareness about Dress For Success DFS Professional Women’s Group by sharing information with their network, promoting their events and initiatives, or engaging with them on social media. Offer professional, expertise: share professional knowledge and skills by volunteering as a workshop, facilitator or mentor to help women in their career development Support local partnerships: collaborate with local businesses and organizations to create an internship and employment opportunities for Dress, For, Success, participants, providing them with valuable work experience. By actively supporting Dress For Success, individuals can contribute to the organizations, mission of empowering women, fostering equality, and creating positive change in the community.

Today we launched a new self help tool for people facing family violence - a Home of Your Own. It's about understanding your rights, and taking action. We know that family violence is a leading cause of housing insecurity for women and children, who represent three-quarters of people accessing homelessness services. We also know the numbers of people at risk continues to grow and that the impact of violence and homelessness radiates out into the community. This tool was co-designed with women who've lived experience of family violence and homelessness, together with frontline community workers. By answering a few anonymous questions about their situation, renters facing family violence can learn about their rights, and be directly supported to take practical steps in maintaining or accessing safe housing, including by creating personalised documents to communicate with their rental providers.  Please share with anyone who might need it.
