Hello LinkedIn, Happy Thursday. Although the week is not finished, I am already really looking forward to next Friday……why is that Ben, I hear you all saying in unison!! Well for once it is not me going on holiday or popping over to Ibiza (Although with the current weather both would be great ideas!) The real reason I am excited for next week is I am delighted to be attending have our 2nd ever Reed Technology Recruitment Conference (Covid stopped this being a yearly event!), up in Sunny Manchester! This will be an amazing opportunity to hear updates from our Senior Leadership Team, including our Global Managing Director Ian Nicholas and Reed Technology's own Managing Director Chris Adcock regarding our strategy which will encapsulate our six chosen pillars for success. We will then have the chance to collaborate with fellow managers and consultants from all over the UK to share wisdom, brainstorm new ideas and work together to make sure 2024 is the best year it can be for the whole division. I love these opportunities to get together, as I feel not only is it a chance for me to talk passionately about the areas I know most about, namely the development and data practice, but also an amazing chance for me to learn from others about areas where I can develop further. We will cover areas like face to face meet-ups, webinars, how to make sure our salary guides continue to improve and of course the continued promotion of our Women in Technology Community ran by Kevin Dainty However, the conference is not all “work, work, work” as once we have covered the above, we will all have the chance to test our driving skills at Chaos Karts, basically a real-life Mario Kart experience. *I am full expecting to be like the child in this video. If you have not seen it, it makes me laugh every time! Happy Wednesday my friends! Y'all ready for some #unpopularopinion: You never know when opportunity will strike. Last week at #BHUSA2023 I had tons of elevator pitches. It is really to be expected at that kind of event. However, I did have my first elevator pitch...actually at an elevator...a true elevator pitch! Someone I know saw me and grabbed me to do a quick intro to a tech start-up. This wasn't a planned meeting, there were no slides, there was no prep, just me and the person, and less than 5 minutes to get me interested. You know what? They nailed it. They talked to me about what they do, and the value proposition both in terms of the problem they are solving and the potential RIO. They got my card, to set up a proper pitch and demo.
