Like many of the amazing people nominated here, I too feel silly asking for votes for something that seems like my duty to accomplish, not just for our team and the talent and clients we represent, but really for the world and humanity as a whole. This is truly what drives me and the team @Mothership every day. This isn’t me asking for a vote for me, this is me asking for a vote for the future of work mission, which has always been to make the American dream a reality for all, and to solve the labor crisis, for good. Everyone deserves equal opportunity, fair income, and the infrastructure and support to maximize their full potential and realize their dreams. It makes sense for corporations, governments, and the economy, and is a win-win for all involved. The experience applying for and getting jobs for talent is too cumbersome, repetitive and inneficient, same for hiring managers who are used to cumbersome process and don’t have another much easier way. Nobody consciously knows just how much pain they’re in and the thing is, it really doesn’t have to be this way. We need sustainable solutions, and to drive ESG and transformation initiatives, not just because they’re profitable, and seamless, but because it’s absolutely essential to ensure our people and planet survive, and thrive, now and into the future. $1 per vote going to charities supporting women doesn’t hurt either. Last week Gain Grow Retain and Jeff Breunsbach hosted Demopooloza. It was a wonderful 3 day event offering the Customer Success community an opportunity to get a sneak peek into the leading technologies supporting Customer Success teams. It was a tremendous success and I heard wonderful things from the folks who participated/attended. Congratulations, Gain Grow Retain, thank you for all you do! Although the event was a big success, I made an observation - only 3 of the 20 companies had a female present and represent them. I was proud to represent ClientSuccess and nice job SlapFive: Customer Marketing and LearnUpon for amplifying the female voices in your organization. That said ... only 15% of the companies that presented were represented by women. That's disappointing. I get that some early stage smaller companies may only have a few people on the team and maybe no women on the team (yet!), but there were plenty of larger organizations who had the opportunity to choose from dozens of women in their organization but chose not to. That's pretty disappointing. If you are female, do yourself a favor and advocate for yourself! Ask for these opportunities ... infact demand them. You are good enough, smart enough and convincing enough. Every opportunity can be your opportunity - Take em'! If you are a company with women on your team, can you please help them amplify their voice. Can you give them opportunities to step into the spotlight. Help encourage them to take chances and step out of their comfort zone. Let them know you trust them and believe in them by showing them. Wednesday Women I thought this message would resonate with your mission and the work you are doing to elevate women. I recently attended a session at Thinkers50 about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and was particularly impacted by the words of Modupe Akinola Ruchika Tulshyan and Rukasana Bhaijee Modupe encouraged us to look around us and observe the composition of the room we are in. At work to consider who is given air time and who is listened to. To notice who is shown respect. Also to observe the diversity of our social groups. Are we just surrounding ourselves with people like us? At corporate events Why are there so many men? Why are there so few people of colour? Start by noticing and check your own assumptions and biases.
