This week has by far been the busiest week in terms of funding across the European tech ecosystem in 2024 so far! Here is a roundup of some of the key highlights 🎬 Monta, a Copenhagen-based startup building an operating platform for EV ecosystem players, announced the close of its Series B round at €80 million. Medtech company CardioSignal by Precordior, that provides early detection of heart disease through their software, this week announced the closing of $10 million in Series A funding. Carbon credit platform CEEZER announced that it had raised €10.3 million in funding in a Series A round. Morressier, a Berlin-based startup that provides publishers with workflows that ensure research integrity, has announced the close of a new investment round at $16.5 million. Precision medicine software platform Sano Genetics announced a $11.4 million raise led by Plural today. Tech unicorn ElevenLabs creates realistic, versatile and contextually-aware AI audio and has raised and $80m Series B round. Infinite Roots®, formerly Mushlabs, a leading German mycelium biotech company, today announced the closing of its $58 million Series B funding round. Conversation AI platform company OpenDialog AI announced it has raised over $8 million in a Series A round led by AlbionVC. Berlin-based startup Kittl secures $36 million in Series B funding, following a continued rollout of features and a heavy focus on community. UK additive manufacturing company Wayland Additive announced a £4.2 million fundraise to enable continued growth of global customers. OctaiPipe, the end-to-end Edge AI platform for industrial IoT, has announced raising £3 million in pre-Series A funding. In addition to continuing that legacy, the new Illumina Ventures Labs give #customersaccess to #officespace and fully functional genomics labs in #FosterCity, #California, and #Cambridge, #UnitedKingdom, according to the company. Early-stage genomics entrepreneurs, from company formation to series A financing, are now invited to apply for the program. Had the opportunity to drop into Genesis this afternoon to meet with a client in the health innovation and med tech space. Thanks to Karandeep Singh Dhillon for sitting with us to share some of his plans about how he is going to take his business, MeddAI to the next level. MeddAI is developing next-generation AI solutions for cancer screening focusing on detecting cancer at the earliest possible stage. Reflections from the 23rd Annual Venture Showcase! Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend the 23rd Annual Venture Showcase, an event that marks a highlight in the New York University Entrepreneurs Challenge Startup Accelerator. The event featured 27 startups. It was particularly fascinating to observe the dominance of Healthcare and Biomedical ventures, alongside the expected surge of AI-based startups. Among the plethora of innovative ideas, two companies particularly caught my attention, showcasing the breadth of creativity and potential impact on their respective industries. Firstly, Audience, a platform revolutionizing the way D2C Data, Analytics, and Insights teams engage with their customer base. Through the integration of AI, data science, and first-party data, Audience enables teams to simulate target segments for predictive feedback, optimizing customer retention and lifetime value. Phil Bennett from Audience shared an insightful example of how their tool could predict customer response to new products, such as a hypothetical new shoe release by Nike, demonstrating the practical application and potential of their technology. Secondly, CaroRhythm stood out with its groundbreaking medical device designed to improve the lives of stroke survivors. Offering point-of-care carotid artery monitoring and stimulation, CaroRhythm aims to enhance the quality of life through early detection and control over recurrent stroke symptoms. My conversation with Lokesh Sharma, one of the co-founders, was nothing short of inspiring. His passion and the purpose behind CaroRhythm highlighted the profound impact innovation can have on healthcare and patient outcomes. Although I couldn’t engage with every company present, the conversations I had and the projects I witnessed left a lasting impression.
