This is an interesting take on the traditional Smerch multiple-barrel rocket launcher (MBRL*). It seems to use a similar 300 mm rocket to the conventional BM-30 launcher but everything else about it is different. The launch vehicle is not the standard MAZ-543M and it looks to be fitted with a double launcher rail, instead of the usual 12 tubes. All of this suggests that this is an improvised launcher. *Note: for everyone using the term ‘Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS)’ to describe Russian-designed rocket artillery, MLRS is a trademark of Lockheed Martin to describe the M270.

Staff Engineer. Building joinTaro.com to help engineers find career success. Taro, Meta, Pinterest, Stanford.
"If you can speed read it, it isn't worth reading." One of my favorite Naval quotes. And yet, almost everything we read as engineers is skimmed instead of read deeply. In 2024, Taro will host dozens of paper-reading sessions for seminal papers that explain core technologies. If you're interested in leading some of these discussions, fill out this form: https://lnkd.in/dFCESEVe Any topic is fine, even if you're not an expert, as long as you commit to reading the paper and facilitating a healthy discussion. We'll amplify your efforts and you'll get Taro Premium for free. Thanks Sai for leading two upcoming discussions: - Demystifying LLM Benchmarks: Dec 18th https://lnkd.in/gGV7WVns - Diving into the 7.3B parameter open-source LLM Mistral: Jan 8th https://lnkd.in/g5jntyQA
