New analysis from AAA, which examined five years of crash data from the U.S. Department of Transportation, points to the lack of proper child restraint use among children injured or killed in car crashes. It's a good time to take a look at the guidelines and make sure we're doing our best to keep our families safe. #mchphillipslaw #seatbeltsafety #childsafety #mcphillipsshinbauminjurylawyers https://lnkd.in/eRAkrV5X

I’m saddened to read that as a society, we haven’t done more to reduce devestating death and injury on our roads in the last 10 years. Every single day we hear and see for ourselves the impact of every one of these numbers. Families, friends, colleagues who don’t return home. I’m saddened to read some of the narrative around ‘reductions’. It simply isn’t good enough. Every single day we speak to emergency service professionals who are tired, traumatised and simply overworked because more isn’t being done to stop this. Every single day our team fight for better outcomes for road victims working in a system stacked against them, with growing waiting lists, court dates and complexities following the pandemic. Every single day I strive to fight for the team, our emergency responders and for those who need us most, in their very, very darkest hours. I echo Ross Moorlock’s words: This.has.to.stop. We have recently announced new funding that will help our National Road Victim Service to reach more people, help them cope every day with the burden of an unexpected, sudden and violent death of a loved one. Our team of professional caseworkers make such a difference to the post crash experience of families left behind. Sadly it is never enough to help us reach the growing need. If you want to do more but don’t know what or how, please get in touch and we can talk more.
“We all deserve safe roads!” says Brake, after 1,700+ people died on our roads last year. Ross Moorlock, our interim CEO said, "It’s completely unacceptable that each day people’s lives are cut short or changed forever as a result of preventable road crashes. It has to stop. “We need a focus on reducing road deaths and catastrophic injuries. This includes appropriate speed limits on all roads, investment in vehicle safety and infrastructure and the funding required on a national level to help provide more devastated families with the support they need.” https://ow.ly/ONru50PRiyy

🚘 Road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5–29 years [World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention. Geneva: World Health Organization; 2018] 📊 For short trips and low-traffic areas, 33% of Italian parents don't always fasten their children. This is especially true for children between the ages of 4 and 7 (45%), for the ones that misbehave (28%), for travel velocities considered slow (25%), or for having another passenger hold their child (14%) [Altroconsumo] 📉 The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for children, when compared to seat belt use alone. ⤵️ This IIHS crash test demonstrates what happens to unrestrained children in a frontal crash

https://lnkd.in/gXp8KhE #CarrolltonKYbusfire #27reasonsforegresssystem #NTSBinvestigatesevacuation #busfiresreal #takestragedytogetaction #proactiveapproach #ohiofirst The NTSB is on record in it's investigation that all 67 occupants tried to exit through a singular rear emergency door and had to jump three feet to escape the bus toxic smoke and fire. The post collision found a pile up of crush students formed in and adjacent to the twelve (12) inch isle leading to the rear emergency door. NSTB further concluded the students were wedged in so tightly that they had to be pulled by force from the human jam. This is a perfect case study on why NSTB and other safety associations need to make school bus emergency egress system standard safety equipment for our precious cargo and drivers.

Yesterday two Nevada State Troopers were killed while assisting a motorist in Las Vegas. 'Struck-by’ accidents kill and injure many first responders every year. These incidents are preventable. When you see first responders working a scene on the roads, SLOW DOWN. Pay attention. Then move over when it’s safe to do so. This is the law and it saves lives. Our thoughts are with the Nevada State Troopers who were killed, and our condolences go out to their family, friends, and colleagues. #statetrooperskilled #roadsafetyforfirstresponders #policeofficers #policesafety #safetyforfirstresponders #firstresponders #safetymatters #preventablefatalities #preventinjuries #slowdown #slowdownmoveover #distracteddriving #roadsafety #LasVegasStateTroopers #RIP #firstrespondersafety
