On Halloween, our truck drivers must stay extra careful on the road. Here's what you need to know: Drive slowly, especially around neighborhoods, even if no trick-or-treaters are in sight. ✅ Halloween sees a spike in drunk driving incidents. Stay sober and alert, and watch out for drunk drivers. ✅ Watch for kids. They might suddenly run onto the street. Expect more after spotting one child. ✅ Ensure your headlights are fully on, not just daytime running lights. ✅ Avoid backing up. If you must, have someone check the area for kids before you do. ✅ Stay undistracted - no cell phone use while driving. Pull over if you need to check anything. Let's ensure a spooky but safe Halloween for all! #eosgroup #eosgrouplogistics #betterdriving #betterdriver #defensivedriving #defensivedrivingrules #safedriving

It’s #OperationSafeDriverWeek! Transportation safety is an imperative to our new initiative, Move Our World Forward, and we are all responsible for keeping our roads safe. As we celebrate, here are four safety tips for teen drivers. Tip #1: Keep your eyes forward on the road. Anything that takes your attention—like using your phone, focusing on your car’s entertainment center, or digging through your backpack—all increase your risk of getting in a crash. Tip #2: Don’t text while you drive. The average text takes 5–8 seconds to type. If you’re going 60mph, this means you’re looking down at your phone for the length of one entire football field, putting you and other people on the road at a significant risk. Tip #3: Don’t drive above the speed limit. It’s physics—when you speed, you shorten the amount of time you have to react to surprises on the road, and increase your chance of fatality if you crash. Tip #4: Buckle up. Over half of teen fatalities occur because teen drivers and their friends are not wearing their seatbelt. Before you start driving, check to see if everyone in the car is buckled up. https://lnkd.in/eHt-U5sw

It's a sobering fact, but awareness is the first step towards change. Let's work together to educate and empower our young drivers to stay safe on the road. Here are a few tips to promote safe driving for teens: Set a Good Example: Parents and guardians, lead by example. Your teen learns from your behavior, so practice safe driving habits consistently. Limit Distractions: Encourage your teen to put away their phone and other distractions while driving. Texting and driving can have fatal consequences. Seat Belts Always: Make sure your teen and all passengers are always wearing seat belts. I know that I'm well known for talking about policing, but I want to talk about something else for once: motorbikes! I've started a Substack blog about my return to motorcycling after 16 years away from it. If you're interested in motorbikes, road safety, the male ageing process, the mid-life crisis and how to avoid having one, patiently influencing/manipulating your wife to get what you want, trying not to kill yourself on the roads (or allowing idiot drivers to help make that happen)…….and reading about potholes....this might just be the article for you. https://lnkd.in/gAaUehcP

It breaks my heart to hear about yet another young life lost on the streets of Coventry. As a community, we need to come together to address the root causes of these tragic events and work towards creating safer roads for everyone. While initiatives like graduated driving licences (GDL), insurance premiums, and black boxes are important steps towards promoting road safety, they may not have prevented this latest tragedy. We need to focus on educating the driver community and raising awareness about the dangers of reckless driving. The new government must make road safety a top priority and take action to prevent further senseless deaths on our roads. We cannot afford to let more young lives be lost due to the carelessness of a speeding motorist. As we mourn the loss of another promising young individual, let us also take this opportunity to push for change. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our streets are safe for everyone. #RoadSafety #DriveSafe #Coventry #StopSpeeding 🚗🛑 Let's not wait for another tragedy to strike before we take action. Our children deserve better, and we must do everything in our power to protect them. Join me in calling for safer roads and a more responsible driving culture. Together, we can make a difference. https://lnkd.in/erj5pEeP
