On August 12, we join the global community in celebrating International Youth Day, and this year's theme "Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World" resonates deeply with our mission at Amazon Mahogany. As a family growing genuine mahogany trees in Brazil sustainably for the last three decades, we have been using the knowledge acquired from our ancestors and passing it down to our children and grandchildren, from generation to generation. Our mission is to nurture and provide beautiful, sustainable Brazilian mahogany grown in its original habitat, preserving the naturally growing trees of the Amazon rainforest so they can accomplish the important task of carbon capture, oxygen production and ecological diversity required for the equilibrium of a sustainable planet. The world is undergoing a crucial green transition, and the development of green skills is more critical than ever. These are the knowledge, abilities, values, and attitudes needed to build and support a sustainable and resource-efficient society. Nurturing these skills in our youth is key to shaping a greener future for generations to come, and it’s a mission we deeply believe in and have taken to heart in our own family’s sustainable growing practice. Join us in acknowledging the power of youth leadership and engagement in creating positive change for a greener future. Together, let's inspire and equip the young generation with green skills, empowering them to be effective agents of change in the pursuit of sustainability. “Sistem hutan 👍👍👍” This is the short message that accompanied this video clip that we received from Made 2, who is supervising operations at LittlePod’s collaborative orchard in Indonesia. It is a message – and film – that feels perfect to share on this, the International Day for Biological Diversity. ‘Sistem hutan’ means ‘forest system’ in Indonesian (we had to look this one up). It is this natural system and all that it entails that is at the heart of our efforts here at LittlePod. The forest system seen in this film is – thanks to the pioneering polyculture methods that Made 2 and the farmers are employing at our innovative orchard – boosting biodiversity and regenerating the rainforest in a beautiful corner of Bali. On this one small site alone, vanilla is thriving alongside other crops, including cloves, coffee, coconuts, bananas, cacao and a host of different tropical fruits. There are countless other patches and pockets like this at the LittlePod orchard, where this system of polyculture mimics the natural forest ecology, benefiting both the farmers and the environment alike. Research has shown that where vanilla is planted, biodiversity is increased and, with the success of the LittlePod orchard has come a realisation in Indonesia that the vanilla industry can be reignited, and that the precious rainforest can be regenerated as a direct consequence. Indeed, the Indonesian government has given our project in Bali their backing and has made a commitment to plant 27 million hectares of regenerative rainforest, 1% of which will be vanilla. The monoculture practices that are used elsewhere in the world have been shown to do environmental damage, but Made 2 and LittlePod’s farmers have proved that there is a better method that brings immense environmental benefits. It is this that we celebrate today, as we send our thanks once more to Made 2 and the team in Bali. To all involved in Indonesia and to LittlePodders everywhere, Happy Biodiversity Day! Sistem hutan 👍👍👍 #BiodiversityDay #InternationalDayofBiodiversity #InternationalDayforBiologicalDiversity #Biodiversity #LittlePod #CampaignForRealVanilla 🌿

🌱 Investments in sustainable and transparent value chains are essential to preserve forests and biodiversity. Hailed as 'superfruits', aguaje and camu camu contribute to the Amazonian tropical ecosystem's protection and support local communities' livelihoods. Seeing the opportunity to promote sustainable land use, AJE group piloted a sustainable superfruit harvesting project with eight communities, processing it into Amayu juice. P4F helped scale the model. AJE is a success story in scaling a community-focused and sustainable superfood juice to a transparent and resilient value chain. In partnership with P4F, AJE Group expanded the initiative to 22 communities, creating income for Amazonian communities and championing forest protection and biodiversity. 📚 Read the full case study in English, Portuguese, or Spanish: https://lnkd.in/ekdqFT5E #Biodiversity #Superfoods #SocialImpact #SustainableValueChain #Peru

10 Innovations that Mexico gave to the World: 1. Corn (59 species) 🌽 2. Cacao (2 species)🍫 3. Vanilla (15 species)💛 4. Avocado (20 species)🥑 5. Tomatoes (13 species)🍅 6. Chili Peppers (250 species) 🌶️ 7. Amaranth (12 species)🪴 8. Agave (150 species)🤍 9. Beans (70 species) 🫘 10. Opuntia: Nopal/Cactus (60 species) 🌵 All of this is possible because Mexico is a megadiverse and multicultural country, and precisely the combination of natural and cultural wealth gave rise to the great variety of these extraordinary foods that are the basis of exquisite Mexican and world cuisine. However, many of these species are at risk of disappearing, which would likely lead to the disappearance of many of the dishes we enjoy daily, that's why today, on International Biodiversity Day, we invite you to share this information and be part of the solution. It is important to stop deforestation, promote local production, and buy from local producers who are guardians of Mexican biodiversity. That is why in collaboration with CONANP, we have created the project "My Online Store for Conservation," which groups more than 250 community organizations that, through their productive activities, protect the biodiversity of Natural Areas in Mexico. We invite you to discover their products by visiting: https://lnkd.in/dt-D2F6Q and consume healthy and biodiversity-friendly products. #BePartOfThePlan #InternationalBiodiversityDay

The Standing Forest's Value: Açaí The açaí berry plays a pivotal role in the economy of Maracaçumé, Brazil. During the peak season, the town comes alive as açaí collectors reap the rewards of their labor. Our Entre Rios Project area has always been a lifeline for local collectors, home to the largest concentration of açaí palms in Maracaçumé. From September to February, during the peak season, we receive around 200 açaí collectors daily, utilizing the palms throughout the project. For many, this is the time to secure their annual income. Collectors scale palms reaching up to 30 meters, carefully selecting branches ready for harvest. This is followed by the dehusking stage, where the best fruits are separated, removing debris. Açaí harvesting does not harm the palm tree, which must remain intact for fruit ripening and future harvests. Therefore, collectors are our key partners in preserving vegetation and the standing forest's economy. Açaí products are sold to various markets, from local to international. Collector communities are crucial for sustainable açaí exploitation and biodiversity preservation in the Amazon. #EcologicalRestoration #regreen #DeliveringNetZero #NatureBasedSolutions #Biodiversity #Sustainability #ScienceBasedSolutions #SustainableBusiness

🌿☕ #TestimonialThursday: Cecilia Ginez is a proud third-generation Costa Rican with a deep-rooted connection to her family's coffee farm. As her mother wisely said, "We are environmentally friendly," encapsulating the ethos passed down through generations. Inheriting the farm from the women before her, Cecilia is the third generation of strong, visionary women tending to the land. Recognizing trees' crucial role in nurturing coffee plants and benefiting humanity, Cecilia embarked on an agroforestry project in Costa Rica. That she co-designed with our local team. Together they meticulously selected tree species that: ✅ Contribute nitrogen to the soil ✅ Introduce more shade to shield coffee plants from the intense heat of contemporary summers. Cecilia's project impact is tangible: ✅ An increase in bird presence signifies a thriving, biodiverse environment. ✅ A balanced ecosystem creates a sustainable habitat for diverse species. In the face of climate change, Cecilia is determined to tackle the challenges head-on. By providing shade to her coffee plants, she ensures her crop's well-being and contributes to the broader global effort to mitigate the impacts of a changing climate.
